In this month's issue of the international journal of medicinal mushrooms, chicken of the woods (Laetiporus sulphureus) was featured in two articles showing digestive and neurological medicinal properties.

There are reports that this mushroom can be grown indoors. Anyone have experience with it and/or tips? Thank you.

Interesting..
This is one I've hinted but not found, but grows in my area (supposedly)

Mrs. Shaman may be interested in trying to cultivate

Apparently they are difficult to fruit based on the info I can find so far. Some claim a way to possible success is to have the bulk substrate colonized by another fungus and pasteurized before spawning.

Hi, thank you very much, i didn't have idea that those mushrooms have shown medicinal properties, they grow all over my country. I have eaten and harvested them since i was child, do you have maybe some suggestion in which way should i process them to keep all their medicinal properties ?

Thanks again this is so nice.

I'm not sure what the optimal preparation is, but in one of the studies they used a simple hot water extract. I would guess making a soup may be a way to cook it medicinally, but I'm just guessing.

Congrats on having it abundantly available in your area. I'm jealous. Thumbs up

I find these every year. They are so abundant that I never really considered trying to cultivate them. If I did it would be on outdoor logs if possible. I'm sure there are benefits to eating most mushrooms that are edible, chickens are good and I'll continue to eat them regardless their benefits.

Couple pics of the ones I find

There are issues with acetylcholinesterase inhibitors. I would not use them as a supplement if there would be no dire need for it, like in the case of alzheimers or a stroke.

They definately have positive short-term effects. But they may actually be harmfull in the long run.
That has not realy been settled yet, but if you still have a couple of decades ahead of you, i just wouldn't take the risk.
