I've been doing a lot of experimenting with a healthy diet.

Here's one from my notebook : The Avocado smoothie,

Microwave half a cup of water with one Tsp. of honey in it.

Add all of these things to the freshly hot water:
one tea bag chamomile, one tea bag Tulsi(holy basil), 1/4 Tsp ginger powder, 1/4 Tsp Cinnamon, 1/4 Cardamom, 2 Tbsp loose coconut butter shavings and mix it up with your spoon for a second and let it steep for about an hour or until it cools down to room temperature.
By the way I also empty a Tulsi extract pill in there for some extra COX-2 inhibition but that's not too important.

Now mix half a glass of rice milk (or regular milk or any milk substitute) with the cooled tea. I enjoy to use hazlenut milk mostly.

Now if you were me you would add a Tsp of bluegreen stuff and empty some calcium pills into it but otherwise...

Toss avocado in blender with your good smelling milky tea and pulse it a few times.

throw it into the ice box if you want but I advice against using ice in a blender (its vulgar)

For people like me who have a very low sodium diet. I throw in a 1/12th Tsp of sea salt (est 500 mg)

....Coconut butter/oil is rich in medium chain triglycerides which are great and don't tend to store as fat
....Cinnamon and Ginger are great for digestion and sooth your stomach as well as taste great
....Cardamom does same as the above but allegedly aids in the prevents of gal and bladder stones
....Tulsi has COX-2 inhibition (same with tumeric) which help to relieve pain and cause relaxation.
....Avocado rich diets while high in fat, it is the good kind of fat that can help lower your cholesterol.

I guess it's about time for our William Tell routine.

I drink smoothies regularly. Mine are simple.

8 oz tofu (Yuk!)

8 oz strawberries (Yum!)

a banana

one container yogurt (blueberry)

Best way, and only way, I know to consume soy protein.

Avocado sounds good but never tried it.

Simple but healty.

yea it's really healthy to eat like this..
I use coconut milk..and hemp protein instead of soy protein..it's alot better for you.
Flax seed and oil is also a good thing to add..
Lots of blueberries and blackberries..I picked like 30 bags of blackberries last summer..so good.
Long live the unwoke.

I wake up everyday with a mixed fruit smoothie and a couple of toasts with some nice spread (hummus, olive paste etc). I try to have it local/season fruits but I also make some exceptions. Here's one example of a smoothie:

kiwi
apple
banana
strawberry
mandarine
pear
germinated hemp seeds
grinded linseed

hmmmmmmmmmmmm

Well, what has completely transformed my life recently is Green Smoothies.

About 100g of any greens (kale, spinach, chard, pak choi etc), a banana, 3 strawberries, some avocado, some mango (very optional) and two glasses of water...all blended up until velvety smooth. Taken twice a day, or just leave some in the fridge and drink every couple of hours.

Makes your whole body zing all day and gives you the energy to do stuff. I'm thinking, if I feel like this in February, I can't wait for the summer!

Thanks to Victoria Boutenko And her "Green for Life" book which showed me this delicious way of getting that many greens down without having to chew for two hours to get them broken down enough for the body to digest.

Awesome thread!

I've recently become addicted to the Orange Julius: (modified for better health)

I blend 1 whole organic orange, a few ice cubes, a splash of unsweetened almond milk, and a touch of honey and real vanilla extract.

Heaven.Cool

Not really a smoothy, but when I'm feeling like something hot and frothy on a cold day, it's Mocha Hot Carob all the way:

Blend heated unsweetened almond milk, a couple scoops of carob powder, a little scoop of Coffee substitute (Cafix crystals), a splash of real vanilla extract, and a little honey to sweeten. I like to alternate the carob with cocoa to get the health benefits of both.

Did you know carob may lower cholesterol and have anti-cancer, antioxidant, and anxiolytic effects?

http://www.raysahelian.com/carob.html

It also is an expectorant and helps clear out the lungs.
