Very curious since i found out star/night jasmine contains Ibogaine, I read about the extraction once performed using 50kg of leaves and stems and the result being 20g of ibogaine with a few other alkaloids. I am wondering if anyone has tried this extraction? Or even tried the end result? I will try the extraction one day when my star jasmine bush is large enough, I'm not entirely sure if the alkaloids in the jasmine are safe, will do thorough research before moving forward but for now just curious Smile

Can you quote a source for that claim?

I only found this: https://www.thieme-conne...ct/10.1055/s-2006-962620

It says nothing of ibogaine, but it does have some related alkaloids.

some related alkaloids

Quote:
Five indole alkaloids, coronaridine, voacangine, apparicine, conoflorine, and 19-epi-voacangarine

Several of these are closely structurally related to ibogaine.

“There is a way of manipulating matter and energy so as to produce what modern scientists call 'a field of force'. The field acts on the observer and puts him in a privileged position vis-à-vis the universe. From this position he has access to the realities which are ordinarily hidden from us by time and space, matter and energy. This is what we call the Great Work."

These articles i read last night and they sparked my interest, then a few forums also suggested it, and recent chats lead me to believe there was potentially ibogaine in star jasmine, just curious if anyone has more information on this or if this is actually true, but after your post and the post thereafter i am lead to believe that it doesn't. Will do a bit more research. Smile Thanks for your help

First link says :
Quote:
The faster moving alkaloid was identified as ibogaine by comparison of its spectral data with those reported in the literature (7)

But it doesn't say what kind of spectra? EI mass spectra ? UV? IR? Depending on methodology they could get false positives... Also specially since we're talking about closely related alkaloids

The second source says Star Jasmine has ibogaine and quotes as a source "Ratsch", with no further explanation. I have Ratsch's encyclopedia of psychoactive plants and it makes no mention of this plant. Maybe Ratsch mentioned elsewhere, in a conference or whatever, but I cant find any info, and also Ratsch has been known to be a bit sloppy with his sources.

Looking for more info in google I've found this page:http://www.giftpflanzen.com/trachelospermum_jasminoides.html

which mentions no source for its claim (in german) that the plant has ibogaine.

This is not to say it absolutely isn't there but I'd be a bit skeptic about claims, and I'd certainly send any extracts to analysis before consuming because even if there was some ibogaine, who knows what quantity, and some of these other compounds may have unwanted effects or have varying toxicity.

basic (literally) decarboxylation.

perfect opportunity to use my CombiFlash, but probably more trouble than it’s worth.

Iboga is not easy to grow, I've heard even in tropical climates people have struggled with it. And it grows slowly.

ugh, that was very low yield of voacangine from the extract in that paper...40mg from 50kg dried material? good grief
