I can assure u that was merely an accident. My eye sight is slowly getting away from me these days and then add onto that that ive brought a majority of my plants indoors now with new lighting, and im just happy i can see one areole to make a cut. Laughing
Also, i was definitely planning on a few grafts of the alberto-vojtechiis, i was really hopin to get to them before the end of the month. Either way, therell certainly be some photos added here when i can.Smile

My prescription ran out about 8 years ago. Finally went down and had an exam and now I can see textures. Never mind the world just seems so much brighter. So, I definitely feel your pain. You may want to consider getting some glasses or an update on your current prescription. It can make a world of difference.

As for your alberto seedlings, I'm excited to see you be grafting those.

Thought I would share a pollen grain from Lophophora alberto-vojtechii and Lophophora williamsii Huizache

Just an F.Y.I. the new Lophophora williamsii x Lophophora fricii filial generation 2 is out!!!

For those unfamiliar with hybrids... the f1 generation is generally fairly uniform in comparison to the f2 generation which tends to get a bit more chaotic in recombinations.

That equates to the need to purchase more f2 seeds than f1 if your looking for those special ones to breed with.

Special being defined as those traits one most likes which of course is going to vary from person to person. An additional aside, hybrid Lophophora seed often has much lower germination rates than non hybrid seed.

Pictorial of grafting procedure.

Acceptance of the fact that our reality is not real doesn't in fact mean it is not real. It just leads to better understanding what real means.

Specimens this size, if you would like, you may take a razor blade and place it between your fingers so as to only let a thin sliver of blade be visible and then place that against your Pereskiopsis and pull downward through your parafilm. This will release the parafilm so you can open it up via rolling back the sides.

The parafilm should be able to be wiggled gently off or allowed to fall off after that. It generally leaves one or two small scars behind on your Pereskiopsis if you choose to go this route.

Yes, I have already read this in some other thread where you had expained how to do it. But because I don't mind the parafilm there, I will let it attached. As you said before, it is just an aesthetic action.

I'm loving your decision, but I have to go home now and post a picture of what old parafilm may look like if you leave it intact.

Yeah my friend, but I guess this parafilm has been outdoors, right? I think in the constant weather of my growbox, with no rain it might stay (almost) as is. If not, I don't care, the main aim is to have it grown!

So.... To graft a bigger chunk of a cactus is now the goal for me... Will be trying some oblique cuts on some of the biggere pereskiopsis stock... Wish me luck.
