my friend's album just came out this week... he put a promo mix of it up on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hbCXFfGNA_s

it falls under the banner of dubstep, but its most definitely not your typical dubstep... its more like broken techno/breakbeat with some dub elements.

Pleased

I love some good Drum'n Bass, techno, electro and even sometimes house but I just can't stand dubstep and I think it's shit! Razz

Lots of most club music is shite Smile

I always think it's slightly odd when folk classify their taste in music into genres.

this is as close as I can get to enjoying dubstep

Its much more progressive and much more listenable

http://dubstepheadhunter...dcast-09-headhunter.html

If you like techno you'll probably like this mix, as it has a lot of elements from techno prog and garage in there.

I can't stand the biggity ragga stuff either..... mc's just annoy the pants off me

Dubstep is good in moderation, I've found the genre hasnt really moved in the past year, here are some artists worth watching, they are all urban grime or mild rasta, except for Black seeds which is kiwi roots music

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZytEicHf6p4 Last but not least some Black Seeds, if you didnt follow any of the other links or didnt like them, then you are bound to enjoy this

Thats my current dubstep watch list, I have plenty more from other styles of the genre so just ask if you need something fresh

For the most part I don't like all that much dubstep, but I've been to a few psytrance gigs & doofs that had some fairly good dubstep artists playing. It's a bit stranger to dance too though, I can't do those free, flowing movements that I can for psy- dub is more grindey with my feet & low to the ground >.>

Not hugely into it myself, but a few friends are and I've been out with them to club nights which are exclusively dubstep, and a good time has been had each time. It probably helped that my friend passed me 3 pills halfway through the night, first time I'd tried ecstasy, didn't really notice much except getting into the music more and generally feeling good, but I put that down to the probable low percentage of MDMA given the day and age. Anyway, I kind of like the slower tempo, gives it a more moody feel - but in a good way. I used to be into D n' B a lot some years ago, went to many an all-nighter. I enjoy the MC'ing, but in moderation, probably a little biased as I've had a dabble at it myself, but never really bothered to try and get into it big style mainly because at the end of the day, you are talking bollocks into a microphone, and I think I'd get fed up of it rather quickly if I was doing it every weekend. Mind you, the money is meant to be quite good if you get into it full time.....

Like any other electronic music as of late, you just have to dig deep for quality. There are probably awesome dubstep tracks being released, just one needs to filter through all the gunk and cash in tracks to find the quality. As for the Lorin's (Bassnecter) show coming, I thought his sets are rather Breaks than Dubstep. Maybe things changed as of recent. Still none the less awesome he's coming around again. I remember about 10 years ago when he was voted best DJ of San Francisco. At the time I thought he couldn't get any bigger but boy did he surprise us all. Smile I'm pretty sure he still plays Burningman too.
