I mean if its hard and not soft and squishy it should be ok, but mine have always been a brighter offwhite color once they healed over.
If it was me, I would redo the cuts just above where you feel it may be moldy, and let them heal in a presteralized enviornment. I usually put them on a counter that has been disinfected with a fan blowing on the cuts to speed up the drying of the wound. Never had a problem with doing this.
