Hi guys,

my tek would be the following:

1) Completely dissolve 1000 mg of freebase 5-Meo-DMT in 50 ml of IPA.
2) Completely dissolve 266 mg of fumaric acid in another batch of 50 ml of IPA.
3) Mix for 1 minute and evaporate at room temperature to give 5-Meo-DMT fumarate.

Here's my calculation of the 5-Meo-DMT/Fumarate ratio:

5-Meo-DMT = 218,298 g/mol (*2 as I assume that one fumar acid molecule binds to two 5-meo-dmt)
Fumar acid = 116,07 g/mol

( 116,06 / (218,298*2) ) = 0.2659 (factor)

0.2659 * 1000mg (5-MEO-DMT) = 265.852mg fumar-acid needed

I think that my simple calculation is right. However, before I mess something up with this beatiful and rare psychedelic compound, I better ask the experts.

Thank's for help!

You are correct with your calculations
I know that fumaric acid binds 2 DMT molecules but im not sure about 5 meo dmt.

Good. Thanks Thumbs up

I think it does bind to two molecules but that's the last point I'm not 100% sure about, too.

fumaric is diprotic, so it accepts 2eq of base, does not matter what base, if its dmt, 5meo dmt, or ammonia gas.

in reality there is an equilibrium, but very small so we assume 100%

Hi,

Question:

Should the 5-Meo-DMT freebase + fumaric acid completely dissolve in the IPA?

Because for me it doesn't even after 10min of stirring.

On 1st attempt there was quite some goo after evap, think did not do enough stirring there.

Now on 2nd attempt not much goo after evap, some white powder and maybe what seems some excess fumaric acid leftover.
However, both tries did not dissolve completely.

soul-explorer, Did you dissolve them in separate portions of IPA? I mean, I would were I to do something like that. Then mix the two solutions to observe, perhaps, a precipitation (not that I've tried this, it just seems likely).

I found fumaric acid to dissolve only slowly in acetone or water. An hour or more, even. Never tried with IPA. It's just not very soluble, all told.

And, presumably, 5-MeO-DMT fumarate isn't very soluble in IPA, either?

Goo formation suggests the presence of moisture in this instance. How thoroughly did you dry your solvent?

“There is a way of manipulating matter and energy so as to produce what modern scientists call 'a field of force'. The field acts on the observer and puts him in a privileged position vis-à-vis the universe. From this position he has access to the realities which are ordinarily hidden from us by time and space, matter and energy. This is what we call the Great Work."
