My golden teachers just started pinning, then cobweb mold started. After some reading, I dropped some hydrogen peroxide on the cobwebs, and that seemed to do the trick. Now, a thick white mold with green center has replaced it.

Anyway, I now have some inch tall shrooms (grown v tek style) but concerned the contamination will ruin what little I have. When do I pitch it? Do I ride it out, or are my shrooms already unusable? Can it be saved?

Let me know your thoughts.

i hate to say this, but it's time to bin it all and meticulously clean the space. cobweb is sometimes manageable, but once things turn color, the spores are in the air and everywhere and it's downhill from there.

i have had experience in this - many times - it's quite sad and discouraging, but just like failed extractions, they are also lessons.

sorry man....that looks like a festering mess.

i suggest using grow-bags. almost fool-proof after the first few, sensitive days post-inoculation.

PM me if you have questions - i've been there....

best of luck

Thanks all. The shrooms themselves bruised a little blue b/c I watered heavy, but the mold hasn't touched them (which isn't totally obvious in the pic). I've picked them, to study them, but do you think they're okay to dry and consume? I've binned the rest and begun a clean up of all surfaces.

general rule of thumb, among "blue thumb" farmers is never eat moldy fungus. even if you cut away the blue/green/grey/red/furry parts, or it didn't touch it; if the mold was present during the pinning or fruiting....toss 'em out.

and bleach that room!!!! or at least Lysol/Clorox....

sad, but safer that way. who wants to be tripping and sick from some type of mold?

any sign of contams must be isolated and destroyed immediately.

all forms of contams, are a risk to the next crop and beyond.

it is possible to eliminate most all contams with proper handling.
ive seen on other forums where contamed grows, lead to more contamed grows.

perfection of product , should be a priority above all else.

I never realized how slow golden teachers are to grow it apparently that's the case . I will remember this in the future .
One very important thing I learned is that good air exchange is the main thing to consider. I recently switched from tyvek paper to breathable tape and added many more holes in my containers. I've had a closet grow growing for almost 3 months now with the same 4 containers with no sign of contamination. One has golden teachers that have done nothing for a month and have suddenly fruited in a big way . It's amazing
I even moved them to the basement which is very prone to mold and they are still going strong . The whole game is to keep them mold free for as long as possible. They will succumb eventually but it is possible, if your careful to keep them going for quite a long time .
The only way of discovering the limits of the possible is to venture a little way past them into the impossible.

If you were fruiting them just like that its no wonder it molded twice over then, surprising they even did fruit if so.
The second mold there looks like trichoderma, the mean green;
it is no good for fungus, but it can be mixed into water and given to plants for good effect, that's something to read into.

Yes. I used a dry fertilizer during the boil hoping it would dissolve, and that didn't work out very well - some of the balls remained.

I know that probably seems like idiocy from my side, which it probably is. I feel like I've learned a lot and read a ton since I embarked on the grow, and I'm already v-tekking my second batch (colubian rust spores).

On a side note, I think you dropped a hint on how to grow sclerotia in pp5 plastic. I'd love to know more about this - would one need to drill a hole in the plastic and use a filter disc?

Big one on the right looks good?...
Meditate before you venture, take it seriously, use it as medicinalโ€”it is good psychotherapy if needed. Realize that you, the Earth, others, and the Universe are all one and the same process. Then take that knowledge back to become, as you already are, one with nature. Eternity in every moment. Divinity in every particle. All is one organism.
