SWIM who knows SWIH llives in europe and has been working around the web looking for materials.
SWIM is looking for VM&P naptha/ Sodium Hydroxide/NaOH) and bestine/heptane to start with.

SWIM has come up with some options and would like to share his findings.

For VM&P naptha SWIM has found this product.

Petroleum benzine.
bp 80-110 °C
D ~0,735
flp -14 °C
ADR 3 II / WGK 1
EG-No. 2651519 / UN-No. 1268
CAS-No. [64742-89-8]

Guarantee analysis:
Boiling range 80-110 °C
Aromatic compounds ≤0,0005 %
Benzene ≤0,0005 %
n-Hexane ≤5 %
Density (15 °C) 0,707-0,720

the CAS-No. refers to VM&P naptha.
http://environmentalchem...hemicals/cn/Naphtha.html

But when looking for VM&P naptha CAS-NO I find others.

VM&P CAS_NO's
08032-32-4
8030-30-6
9072-35-9

Is SWIMS find a good one ?
Why does VM&P naptha have different CAS-NO's ?

For the NaOH SWIM found.

Natronloog (this is a another name for NaOH)
45 %, extra pure

NaOH
M 40,01 g/mol
D ~1,48
ADR 8 II / WGK 1
EG-No. 2151855 / UN-No. 1824
CAS-No. [1310-73-2]

When checking on the CAS-NO
SWIM find. http://www.inchem.org/do...s/sids/sids/NAHYDROX.pdf
Looking in the document SWIM finds.

1.2 Purity/Impurities/Additives
Sodium hydroxide is a white and deliquescent solid. Impurities are sodium chloride (≤ 2 %) and
sodium carbonate (≤ 1.0 %), sulfate (≤ 0.2 %), while the concentration of other impurities is less
than 0.1 %.

Is the NaOH SWIM found a good find ?

SWIM has already found bestine/heptane.

Is SWIM on his way of obtaining quality materials ?

Any opinion of (experienced) spice lovers is welcome

VM & P naphta probably has different cas numbers because it's a mixture of several hydrocarbon products.

Check out the cas number(s) of your naphta, and if the cas list says "naphta, aliphatic light" or something similar then you're good to go. Light aliphatic n. can be freeze precipitated, heavy aliphatic and aromatics can't.

The NaOH you found is good.

Could you tell me where you found the heptane?

Thanks dread.

IN the first link, the link about the naptha.

Identifications
CAS Number: 64742-89-8
Synonyms/Related:
Lt. Aliphatic HC Solvent
Naphtha
Solvent Naphtha (Petroleum) , Light Aliphatic
VM&P Naphtha

So, its a go with this one Very happy
Also good NaOH Very happy

I would love to share, if I could only send PM. Wink
Are you looking for a source in Europe ?
