a friend of a friend recently ordered some mhrb. when it arrived and was inspected, instead of being pink-purple inner bark it was beige outer bark, with a lot of bark, bark on it. as in it looked like it was broken off an oak tree of something he says. the vendor was contacted and wrote back saying that it was mhrb premium bark, but the premium bark has the acutal outter bark still on it. so my friends friend wants to know if anyone has ever heard of that because he hadnt. mhrb premium wasnt even listed for sale on the vendors website either. and he was under the assumption that the purple-pink inner bark was actually whats supposed to be the premium part of it all anyways. ... .. .

Yeah you want the inner-most bark if possible, but you're usually going to get some outer too. It always has a purplish hue to it though IME. I've never seen it beige. It'd be interesting to see what an extraction yields.

swim read that the inner bark is what you want. not sure if that is fact. thats not going to be fun to grind up though. swim says give it a go and see what happens.

Hmmm, i don't know, that does look strange. The top piece looks a little purple but the rest looks like somebody went in the backyard and scraped a tree. Could it be the bark off the tree, and not the root? If so, that would suck. How big are those pieces? It just doesn't look like any MHRB i've ever seen.

my friends friend knows its mhrb, but hes trying to figure out if its viable being that part of the root. it would be possible to remove the 'bark' on the bark, but that would greatly reduce the quantity. Those pictures look better. Deffinately not inner root bark, but i bet your friend's friend will get a decent yield. Just grind it all up, don't bother removing any of it, it doesn't matter.

The overall quality definitely looks questionable - except for that one scary purple piece in the first pic - if it all looked like that you'd be loving life. I've seen premium outer - there is probably a few grades of standard bark depending on vendors, some might be the select pick of bark and some might not be. Purple/pink inner bark is always the ultra premium, if you want to pay through the nose for it. I found a few pics of what I'd call good quality outer that I'd presume is the "premium outer" you would expect to get. Hi, Well, I can add these two bits worth: in recent discussions with JC Callaway, he indicated that mh [i:b4cc6eb783]stem[/i:b4cc6eb783] bark can contain significant amounts of dmt, (contrary to the only published report on this, which was very low...bad sample?) Maybe that beige stuff with the bark on the outside is stem bark? I'm unfortunately not very familiar with the plant itself (has anybody here established a [i:b4cc6eb783]relationship[/i:b4cc6eb783] with the living mimosa hostilis plant?) so this is just guessing. This is an interesting thread which I would like to have archived in the Plant Discussion forum. Noman or Quantum: would you mind "giving" me this thread and moving it to the Plant Discussion forum? Thanks. -z
What if it really [i:92fda18de4]is[/i:92fda18de4] all about the Hokey-Pokey?

Well heres what the Antarctican says he got from a bear that said that it was "high quality inner": [img:196a57a4d5]http://img245.imageshack.us/img245/2971/dsc0015pp3.jpg[/img:196a57a4d5] [img:196a57a4d5]http://img233.imageshack.us/img233/6168/dsc0018at7.jpg[/img:196a57a4d5] Seems not quite as woody as Bleu Halos. But theres definitely some outer there. He says it yields around .4% The stuff Ness posted looks like what my friend was buying three years ago for under a hundred dollars a kilo and yielding +.6%.

[quote:f3cbc2ead6="Coschi"]if you don't mind, put a pic up after you've powdered it and let us know [/quote:f3cbc2ead6] from what my friends friend has told him, the vendor sent him a replacement package of regular bark. two tests to make clothes dye were run using 50g of each. he said that even having used the purplest pieces from the 'premium' it only yieded around a 1/4-1/3 as much dye as the regular bark.

I'd just avoid this vendor from now on.
