Assuming you are using the same solvents & didn't accidentally contaminate, or mess up some part of the extraction process, I would guess it's an issue with low quality bark.
Hard to say for sure though.

BTW, if you wanting to pull "Jungle Spice" out of the bark using Xylene, you do not want to be washing it with Naptha!!
Only the Pure N,N-DMT is soluble in the Naptha. So after using it (correctly), you no longer have the "Jungle" elements.
They are only soluble in the Xylene.

If you are using the Naptha on purpose, in order to get rid of the "Jungle" stuff & yield only DMT, there is absolutely no need to put yourself through the horrible crap that comes with using Xylene as a solvent!!
Just use the Naptha in the first place to pull only the N,N-DMT out of the bark solution.

D-Limonene works just as good, or better, than Xylene, plus it doesn't make the whole house smell like a stinky auto shop for days!!
In fact, it smells very nice...like oranges! It is orange oil.Wink

All of the teks that use Xylene as a solvent, can use D-Limo in place of the Xylene.
Most of them have been, or are being revised, using D-Limo anyway! It's just a better solvent in every way!!

What I'm seeing in those pics is not familiar to me at all...Wut?

If your tasting solvent & catching fire, you have some definite issues there!!
But I have no clue what to tell ya!

only the unwashed taffy caught fire/tasted the solvent, the product SWIM has now is pure jungle but still has a bunch of fats left in it. once upon a time SWIM was able to pull pure jungle, colored white/beige with the consistency of fluffy powder.

SWIM will update as the cleanup progresses, and could a mod move this to advanced?

Did you evaporate pulled xylene to retrieve the gunk or pull with an acid? Much of what's pulled out of xylene is DMT-n-oxide, a probable cause for rapid combustion & its slight sense of activity, IME. Hence why your naphtha hadnt pulled out the DMT, which may reason that your plant material had oxidized prior to extraction. So while choosing the right solvent and tec is completely up to SWIY (That alien with the goggles), there have been advances in home extractions that SWIY may want to consider.

If you're looking for a purer product, look to FASA or FASW however, would recommend to carry that through a buchner funnel /w iso to retrieve a cleaner residue, or may consider using zinc dust and acidic water to convert DMT-n-oxide to DMT

yeah agreed - converting it to fumarate - washing it - then back to freebase - that should make ur product more smokable and remove any traces of solvents - use acetone for freebasing.

For the second cleanup step, The de-elf'd jungle was then dissolved into 91% iso alcohol, and allowed to evaporate under a fan + heated in a temp 180F oven for >5 minutes then placed under a fan again to finish drying.
The taffy like structure has now been converted to a strong yet still sticky solid (pictured below)

you dont want to heat it up past 130F!!! 180 will vaporize any dmt in there...
it's a sound
