Had a bit of a mishap on my first growing attempt. Used a growkit and everything was going fine. The mushrooms were just reching harvest point when I got called awawy on business and was out of the coutnry for 5 days. What I've come back to is a bag filled with fully opened mushrooms that have gone black( from the spore release as I understand.) I took one out and I have to say it does look mouldy. Are they still ok to use? All I can see from the pics is spores and bruising... but wow, sitting like that, I'd personally be very cautious. What do they smell like? Do they still smell like mushrooms? Or do they smell sour or moldy? They look fine to me! If they don't smell funky, eat em up! Be an adult only when necessary.

they look ok IMO but the smell test is what I can't do from afar. Trichoderma and other moulds as well as bacteria have very distinct smells. If it smells like clean mushrooms you're fine I'd say. I don't see any obvious contamination from the pics. The cap of the musrhoom in teh second pic looks kind of balck - is that spores or shadow or is it some kind of mold? They smell just like mushrooms. Maybe a very slight, mildew smell. I guess they are ok then

I've found (especially with B+ strain) that once they spore out, the psilocybin seems to degrade and potency drops. Also there is this strange effect - the mushrooms feel less psychoactive, but more "medicinal" in terms of causing nausea/gastrointestinal upset (which I view as a cleansing reaction).
