Please, tell us more about them. What kind of mushroom were they? In which part of the world were you?

Thanks Smile

Thats in Brazil.. Its the cubensis one can find, in one place I went a lot since my teenage days to pick mushrooms and explore nature and go to the waterfalls around. I had friends living there, sometimes would camp or later rent a small house there for a while. That was also the first time I extracted DMT, with the shrooms drying in the livingroom and the crystals crystallizing in the freezer Very happy

We need moar pics, anybody?

@semios beautiful pictures! I cant wait until next fall. I have been working on my beds here at home. Nothing compares, however, to the richness of the Duwamish patches.

@Dante I spent a few years myself living in Sao Paulo. We would head due east to a city called Perus? Hope I got the spelling correct. It is a small city surrounded by cattle and dairy farms. I remember it well, we picked pounds of cubes and then we would eat corn ice cream afterwards. I am pretty sure cubes are pretty common in the Sao Paulo countryside. The conditions are right. Add cows and presto!

Pics from my first grow ~3-4 years ago...wbs spawned to verm/coir/lime (with far too high a moisture content) and grown in a humidity chamber with a vick's coolmist tubed in. The last two pics were some of my early experiments. The second to last is just a grow in one of those cheap little humidity domes and the last pic is a clear rubbermaid box that I crumbled up 2-3 cakes into and dropped a bunch of perlite onto to see if it would fruit...it did.

It's funny looking at these now and realizing how my understanding has changed dramatically...everything from initial moisture content of the bulk sub, to putting a 'casing' layer on my fully colonized bulk sub Rolling eyes (of identical material Laughing ) and fruiting it a bit early (not to mention harvesting some of them a smidge late). But, to some degree, I think it's a testament to the fact that mushrooms will grow in parameters that are somewhat different from what is generally touted as necessary. Life tends to be fairly persistent Wink

Yeah Ice House, all around southwest of Brazil (specially Rio, São Paulo and Minas Gerais states) there are tons of shrooms, specially from november to march during summer, since it rains a lot and there are a LOT of cow fields.

Snozz, WOW nice pics, that looks lovely. Thats quite a set up for a first grow, heh?

Great pics! Beautiful!

Snoz, any idea what kind of yield from one of those tubs? A friend is interested in such a project, but does not want to spend more than necessary and certainly does not want more mushrooms than necessary for one or two modest group excursions.

I guess...I've always been a little anal retentive in my reading/researching (plus, for some reason I have this mindset re: entheogens that I have to do everything NOW! Laughing )...so I figured why not go for broke out of the gate? Wink This is one of the reasons I recommend people skip the kits and grow from scratch...you never know how much you'll surprise yourself and how rewarding it feels.

I don't remember specifically what any of the individual containers yielded...but I do know that the humidity chamber as a whole yielded 3/4 lb - 1lb dry. There were 4 tubs in the chamber, so figure on average, they yielded 3-4oz each.

I didn't dunk the tubs at all (I've actually never had success dunking). I merely patched the areas I harvested with fresh substrate and kept the humidifier running 24/7 for air exchange and humidity. I think I hit around 5-6 full flushes followed by 2-3 rounds of continued but minimal growth.

They were Chilean cubes

Wow, nice pics! I'm just a beginner mycologist so here's my first ever flush. The whole grow ended up being about 15g dry. I was happy, my cakes are tiny (1/4 pt - not big producers). Honestly though, I would have been happy with 1g. I have some other stuff going, but that would just be picture of tubs of poo right now...
