So my friend and I grew some Golden Teachers in a monotub with a basic coir tek. After a few flushes there was a little green mold that we scooped out. Then we decided to toss the whole thing since barely any mushrooms were being produced and I wasn't trying to mess with any mold. He threw it next to his compost pile which consists of straw, plant matter from the backyard, soil and anything that could be in a chicken coop. This is what happened after a few weeks with almost no maintenance.

There was no intention to grow outdoor mushrooms at all. It wasn't until we saw pins that he decided to water it every day. I dont paln on eating them but I am still wondering if they would be ok to eat? I assume they are but can never be too careful.

Also I will throw in some pics of our grow for fun! We actually forgot about the grow and spores were released Mad Oh well lol

Turns out the ones from the compost pile were noticeably stronger than the tub ones, not that anyone is interested :/

Good job bro, and nice pictures of the tub. That doesnt look too shabby at all. Wonder why you said there were few mushies being produced.. looks like a decent flush to me.

Also ive grown outdoor cubies before too. Theyre great!

Nice one on the tub growing. However, shouldn't you harvest your mushroom a little bit earlier? I was told that you want to harvest the mushrooms before the veil completely tears loose. Makes handling them easier too because they're smaller.

Course, my attempts at growing still had at least half of the mushrooms have opened veils.

Haha thanks guys. VoidTraveler I definitely would have preferred to have picked them earlier but I was not available for a few days and it pinned and matured so much faster than I thought, it was my first grow. Next time I wont miss it though Razz

Thanks man! Sorry when I said few were being produced I was talking about after the later flushes when it got a contam. The pics are of the first flush, second flush was a bit smaller, third was half as much as the first.

oh yeah, they liked the nutrients from the compost! Perhaps think about adding it to the substrate?

I love pictures of mushroom cultivation... first on my list once I get a place...!!
