I got a problem.

You people who think he's charging too much are lost. I recently inquired into the cost of an ayahuasca retreat. $2000 for 10 days, AFTER I can afford to get there. +$100 here and there for any extra thing. That's over $200 per day. Fucking ridiculous some of you are calling this guy out man. Money enables one to live and gather resources. Money is what you trade in lieu of trading services.

$2000 + airfare + gratuity, etc, VS $160 + gratuity??? Mind you the $2000 retreat is mostly 'performed' by indigenous peoples who 'should' have less need for greenbacks. How is this man being unfair? I think many people, who cannot leave country, old child support, criminal bindings, finances, etc, would be wise to work with someone (experienced, shaman or not)in a safe and ritualized environment, at this cost. You don't know if he's using rue or caapi, or mimosa or chacruna, do you? If I use rue/mimosa that changes my cost of experiment, but not my cost of living. If this guy dedicates his life to sharing the light of this plant, should he not be able to eat and drink as well as you?

Nothing to say, $160 VS $3000 says it all. Yes, for more money you get a 'better' environment, and a more 'authentic' and experienced teacher. It does not mean it's the only way.

It's not really about that, is it??- It's about a man who a doctor heard make cancer curing claims. It is also about dealing in a banned class A drug, and recieving cash for an illegal activity. The participants are lucky they didn't get charged either, and the hotel for allowing an illegal activity to take place, etc-such is the law im afraid!

-Whatever, it was obvious, that a doctor was set to "check him out!", obviously he was being watched for some time. He took a risk and he got done. That is the way it goes, he didn't have to do that, but he did. He took a risk in a conservative society which has strict rules, and was made an example of -Simplz! Embarrased Shocked

There's no difference if someone's charging alot or not much for that potion. The point is that it's definately not good to charge money for such substance, it's plain wrong. So if one charges 100 or 1000 doesn't really make a difference.
If one does charge only for the accomodation and food etc., that's totally fine IMO, but charging for the substance is not different from drug dealing and disrespecting the sacred drink.

Having seen the Youtube documentary by the BBC I feel that Peter Aziz was a rather vulnerable target. He has beliefs (fairies and gnomes, for example) which border on the ridiculous, and healing methods which call on water spirits. I don't believe it is up to me to question whether he is right or wrong because he is free to have his own beliefs, and good on him.

However, he was stupid to allow the BBC to film him. He was stupid to allow footage of him brewing Ayahuasca in his kitchen to be captured. He was stupid to be filmed trying to treat a patient with a terminal case of cancer. He was stupid to be caught on film ranting on about fairies and gnomes and water spirits.

Couldn't he see that this would NOT endear Joe Public or the Regulatory Authorities (Police, Judges, Medical Specialists et al) to what very many people globally DO know - which is that the sacred plant medicine - as documented by Dr Charles Grob and many others by and large provides many many positive benefits to the individual.

In the final scene of the documentary it was clear that the BBC reporter had some compassion and sadness in what he was reporting about Peter Aziz. Of course they would have had to have a doctor present to validate the storyline that silly things were being said about cancer. What really annoys me is that we now have a situation of case law in the UK re Ayahuasca.

There is another court case going thru' the system in the UK and the argument is/was being meticulously prepared for the defence of Ayahuasca. IMHO Peter Aziz has stupidly and recklessly jeopardised this.

Amaxxx, you said it perfectly.

-However, watching his U-Tube video, it does become clear that he has helped people, who come to him as a last option. So i guess ill people have nothing to lose. Just because the Authorities don't understand about energies, etc, isn't enough reason to state that this guy is a fake. Even the reporter felt the energies of his Gnome friend!!

>PS, he also does a fantastic Laughing Gadaffi impression!!Laughing Laughing

He seems like a lovely guy, tbh...and doesnt strike me as stupid at all. I would be interested to know where he learned his practices from.

Fair point, Jdubs.

He reminds me of Hugh Fernley from river cottage series. Just the kinda guy you would invite for scones and clotted cream with your auntie.

-Just because the cold and calculating pharmaceutical pushing facilitators, that don't believe in fairies and elves , don't agree, isn't reason to disrespect such a man.

-We live in a miraculous world, where there are spirits to help and guide us. this is accepted as normal in ancient cultures, but shunned by the west. Strangely enough this disbelief in spirits occured when the Catholic church came into power.

-However, thanks to the internet people are becoming aware once more about spritual assistence. --( and laughing Gadaffi impressions!!) Wink
