Recently, Antrocles posted something about his work with preserved sexual energy. Some abstain from sexual acts for a while as part of a spiritual ayahuasca diet. I have always wondered, if this was due to certain arbitrary cultural rules, or if it really makes a difference. For me, releasing sexual energy daily kinda dulls out contact with other people. It also makes me kinda depressed to release it after having stored it for a while.

I have not done anything for 9 days now. At first its always kinda exciting to feel the energy rise, but then, i suddenly feel great sadness evertytime i see someone of the opposite sex.
I really wonder what happens if i continue abstaining from it. I think i once hit the 13 day mark. I know someone who hit 3 weeks. That seems to be an incredible hard thing to do. But it definatly changes my perception of the world in a distinct way.

But can it do any good?

I remember Ant talking about that. It made me wanna do some more research on the subject, so I found this book.

It's The Multi-Orgasmic Man Sexual Secrets Every Man Should Know.

I haven't read the entire book yet but from what I gather, it's not about truly abstaining from sex, it's about abstaining from ejaculation.

This book helps you to learn the difference between ejaculation and orgasm so when you hit the peak, you recycle the energy instead of wasting it in a kleenex or whatever.

I hope you guys enjoy and thanks obliguhl for bringing this up.

not ejaculating frequently is unhealthy. Promotes prostate cancer.

Quote:
In a front-page story on December 3, 1992, the New York Times reported startling scientific research that seems to confirm the ancient Taoist insight about the toll that sperm production takes on a man's body. "These results are the last thing I had expected when I started doing the experiment," said Wayne Van Voorhies of the University of Arizona. "They were so startling that I did the work over four times to make sure I got it right. They basically say a lot of our
preconceived notions [about male sexuality] just do not hold."

Dr. Van Voorhies was studying simple but revealing worms called nematodes. What, you may ask, do worms have to do
with your sexuality'. Well, these nematodes are not just your everyday, garden-variety worms. "The genes and
biochemical processes nematodes use," explains Dr. Philip Anderson of the University of Wisconsin, "are the same as
those that humans and other mammals use." In scientific studies, nematodes are frequently used in place of human
subjects.

Dr. Van Voorhies tested three kinds of male worms. The first group of worms was allowed to mate at will, which required
frequent sperm production. On average, these Don Juan worms lived only 8.1 days. (Nematodes, in general, don’t live
very long.) The second group of worms was not allowed to mate at all. These, shall we say, monastic worms lived an
average of 11.1 days. But even more startling, the third group, the multi-orgasmic worms that did not constantly have to
produce sperm but were allowed to mate at will, lived close to 14 days – over 50 percent longer than the worms that
needed to continually produce sperm!

The Times concluded: "The new work suggests that ceaseless sperm production takes its toll on a male, perhaps
requiring the use of complex enzymes or biochemical processes that have harmful metabolic byproducts." The Times goes
so far as to suggest that "the difference in life span between men and women just may be linked to sperm production.
Women on average live about six years longer than men." There are other theories to explain the disparity in life
expectancy between men and women, including differences in lifestyle and in hormones. Whether or not the production
of sperm actually shortens your life, it certainly saps your strength.

Excerpt taken from the book. So while I agree with you Fractal, there also seems to be something to not letting it out as well. Just as with all things in life, it's all about balance.

I know very little of the science behind it. Like blood letting, I'm sure that ejaculating can be healthy. I read some Samael Aun Weor some time back that instructed the building up and preserving of this 'power' fluid. That to let the power in the penis rise and have sex, but keep and build the fluid.

Like Jim Morrison, I, lament for the death of my cock. And try to put it to the back of my mind of much as possible. I also find that released and thought of daily, my contact with others is kinda more bland, like I'm less interested in a form of excitement somehow.

I wonder though, first of all, if there is a direct link cancer and ejaculating. Also, it says people who jizz 13 - 20 times in a month. It doesn't say if it's one sploog per day, or if a pumping counts if they get milked 3 times a day, five times per month. Personally, I consider 13 times a month to be virtually abstinent.

Okay, maybe I'm weird. But I've gone long periods (at least according to the people here) without ejaculating. The longest was a little more than 8 months. It definitely changes your energy, when you have sex or masturbate regularly. Well, ejaculating, that is. I've never delved into the whole 'difference between ejaculation and orgasm' subject, so like most men, ejaculation = orgasm.

I don't know about the prostate cancer thing. I felt very healthy and full of energy when I abstained for those 8 months. Maybe if you store the energy and don't release it in other ways, that could lead to problems. I'm also not someone who masturbates regularly. I find if I do, I become more lazy and lethargic.

I think our view (in the Western world) of sex is a little unhealthy, to be honest. We think that more sex = more happiness. That simply isn't true for many people. I'm sure there are porn stars out there who have sex several times a day and they're not happy with their lives. It's about love, emotional and spiritual connection, more than the act of sex for me. Without love or that connection sex is meaningless, other than to release that energy along with your ejaculate.

Every time one ejaculates it gives away all what's necessary to create life, I'm not sure at what extend it is healthy to ejaculate often. Do wild animals ejaculate many times a day?? Taoists are wrong for millenia and science is right??
None of this is really happening, SWIM's mind is so sick and bored than it has to invent all sorts of "abracadabrantesques" stories...

Pleasure is good. Moderation is good.

Ritualizing a drug experience, with abstinence or otherwise, will likely make it feel more significant.

Interesting topic! The previous comment raised the issue that from ancient times, many "eastern" philosophies and religions have suggested that abstinence or non-ejaculation, at least in some people, may be good for, shall we say, "spiritual attainment", or "advancement of one's consciousness"....and that this could even be at odds with the findings of modern medical science. It does seem to me that such recommendations tend to come to the practitioner from a spiritual guide, rather than from a decision one makes after reading about abstinence. A guide might even offer tips or techniques to employ while (trying to) practice abstinence. This may even have a lot to do with the success of the practice, as well as not getting harmed by such practice.

That said, it's likely that for many if not most that the successful practice of abstinence is like quitting smoking - guide or no guide. Hey, it was recommended to me - a nonsmoker - by such a guide and it was WORSE than quitting smoking. So speaking with plenty of failure under my belt - so to speak! - and I hope I'm not upsetting the gods by this, but I would recommend that a good way to begin considering if this is something you want to do is to meditate alot and to practice sex with this "higher purpose" in mind, that is, during the act. Or even better, with a like-minded partner. Beyond that, even I wouldn't listen to my own advice.

Good luck!

WHOA!

I've heard from some of my male friends that the experience changes the longer you go. It might be difficult at the 2 or 3 week for some people, but often if you stick it out, things click into place as you get used to a new mindset and new energy level. I think it really depends on the person & circumstances, though.

I think that this sort of thing is usually apporached in conjunction with other things, such as a rigerous yoga practice, transcendenatal meditation and very strict diet etc...in the west people people tend to romanticise a bit and focus more on one part than the whole. There is definatily something magical about our sexual energy, but I feel(and this is just my opinion) that simply being abstinent without combining that practice with a set of others and then tying it all together is sort of missing the point.

For me I would rather focus on my diet and outlook based on where I am right now. I feel the best in reguards to health and energy levels when I keep my diet as clean as I can and am eating tons of fresh fruit, pure water and green all day long..trying to stay mentally balanced and focussed on sort of riding the day and letting it take me without stressing out..I wouldnt worry about things like nematodes personally with the position I am in. I am confident that my diet wont allow those things anymore and with the amount of ayahuasca I consume it will clean up what might be left.

Sex is a sort of magical thing to me. I enjoy having sex every day and have absolutily no desire to abandone it. I know that I am in love with the person I am with and that it is a mutual merging and exchanging of energy, and really my goal is to go deeper into that and work with that energy as much as I can. There is something to the idea of building up sexual energies though in my experience and not ejaculating..I feel like I can have sex on mushrooms on and off for like 2 hours and not ejaculate, while still having a full being orgasm practically the entire time. The energy is incredible and it is very different from simply ejaculating.

Cannabis is also a wonderful facilitaor when it comes to working with sexual energies...no wonder the east was so big on tantric practices.

I do actaully feel very healthy and alive after having sex and reaching orgasm though..it feels incredibly rejuvinating. I dont feel the way that many others here do, describing feeling worn out and withdrawn etc. That is just me though and might be based more on my current diet. Sex is an amazingly magical thing and can be the most sacred of practices if one is with the right person.
Long live the unwoke.

I wonder how much of a difference there is between sex with another being and masturbation. I have a feeling that the powerful exchanges of energy happen more often with another than by oneself, although I suppose that's not out of the question. I also recommend looking into tantra, for those who aren't going the abstention route.

To those who can do long periods without firing their gun, how do you tame nocturnal emissions? Cause I try to ejaculate at least half time daily especially when I'm having sex but still quite often I wake up with my underwear feeling uncomfortably moist.

Also, has anyone noticed that if you do not unload for, say a week and then after you've finished the juicing the semen smells A LOT like Acacia flowers?

I've heard from people that these go away after a while, after your body has adjusted, but I don't/can't know from personal experience.

There is propably a huge difference between sex and masturbation. Part of the reason i feel bad afterwards is because its sad it happened alone. i'm currently at day 12 and it seems to be easier now. I will try to go up to 15 days at least.

I'm not sure that science and abstinence are at odds. Science says that ejaculating once every two days or so reduces the chances of prostate cancer. With abstinence for spirit purposes, it may be irrelevant that the prostate is in a less healthy state. Especially since the prostate can be cared for by other means.

Anyone here try the technique the redirects semen to the bladder? Pressure is applied with fingers to a specific spot and the orgasm is dry on the outside, semen moves into the bladder to be peed later.

I've been working with taoist energetic practices in holding in semen while reaching orgasm. For the past year I've been very successful with this, and while it's easier to hold back my fluid while masturbating, I can also do it during sex. However, I do feel that sexual energy still leaves my body even if semen doesn't. This is something I've been experimenting with quite a bit lately, and have realized that for me to harness my sexual energy for spiritual practice I have to obstain completely. At least for my body, orgasm even without ejaculation still releases my sexual energy, leaving me with little to use in my energetic work. That may just be me though - I would say experiment with it, and see how things go. There are two camps (at least in taoist practice). One camp believes that you can hold in your sexual energy by withholding your sexual fluids. The other camp believes that you must abstain altogether. While I would love to be a member of the first group (that which believes energy can be retained with ejaculate), my experiences tell me otherwise.

Aside of fasting in the morning, and vomiting sometime thereafter during my last aya experience a couple weeks ago when I had my white light/godhead experience, the last thing I did before I loaded up my GVG to blast me off into that experience was ejaculating which was one of the strongest ejaculations I've ever had. In retrospect, later that day, I viewed the act as another part of the purge allowing me to go further into the experience than I had ever thought I would be able to get.
