hi all,

swim is planning a small anahuasca ritual (complete w/ pre-ingestion mapacho blessings) for his closest friends on his b-day and some want a more intense exp. than others. He needs some advice on tweaking his brews to insure (as much as he can) they each get the level experience they want. Here is what he is planning so far.

wild dose (20g mhrb + 4.5g sr) simmer-1hr/1hr/1hr - 3000mg aa
medium dose (16 mhrb + 3.5g sr) simmer-.5hr/.5hr/.5hr - 2000mg aa
mild dose (12.5 mhrb + 3g sr) simmer-.5hr/.5hr - 1000mg aa

He put 1000 mg ascorbic acid (aa) in the 6g unfiltered syrian rue reduction (of which ts only consumed half of the tannins). As you can see above he has since reduced his ideal amount of maoi (due to subjects uncontrollable sleepiness). Test Subject (ts) noted very warm & heavy feelings after 20 min. Ts waited 25 more minutes before ingesting a reduction of 12.5g of mhrb w/1500mg aa which had simmered for 30 min., filtered, simmered 45 minutes filtered, combined & reduced to 150ml, allowed to cool to approx. 100 degrees F and added a very small (maybe 100mg) sodium carbonate(Na2CO3) until concoction appeared turgid. Subsequent filtering appeared very successful and TS reported no graininess whatsoever. With his one test dose he was (seemingly) able to remove 98-99% of the mhrb tannins with Na2CO3. Ts experienced no nausea and only a small amount of indigestion was reported. Ts seemed to have a very positive and enjoyable (mild euphoria and visuals) yet somewhat underwhelming exp. Perhaps the observers expectations were a bit to highWut?

Wut? Has anyone else had experience using Na2CO3 for tannin removal? He has only read one reference of its use removing mhrb tannins with marked success.

Wut? Are these amounts of aa appropriate or should he consider leaving out the aa for the mild doses?

Wut? Would anyone tweak the above (not the test-report) listed simmer times next to dose strengths?

Wut? Does the removal of tannins translate to less serious need for dietary restrictions in the preceding 48/24 hours?

Thanks to all experienced responders. Your wisdom is invaluable.
