Been reading a lot of great stuff but cant find a definitive answer to this Naphtha question.

What is the best brand of pure Naphtha in UK without any nasty additives?

To this day I still don't trust any of them.

I had a can of coleman fuel once that was fantastic, but it looked like it had been sat on the shelf in the store for about 5 years. Now after all this talk of blue dye, I'm reluctant to use it the one in the new packaging.

Now I'm using store bought lighter fluid, but as I don't trust it, I'm adding a crazy load of cleanup steps on the end. Well not a load. Just Freebase to fumarate, then back again via water re-x with sodium carbonate..

Didn't you find that the biggest bitch known to man to evap/dry crystals afterwards?

I found Behlen, last week when i was putting together a list.

Looked up the tech sheet pdf and cant see any additives noted but I'm paranoid about contaminants so just doing my homework. Behlen is about £10 for 945 ml.

So you reckon its clean?

Has anyone thought about pre-freezing naptha to see if anything precipitates/freezes out?

No, but that's a good idea. It's unlikely that it'll remove any putatively nasty contaminant it, but it'll at least show you whether there's something to worry about in the first place.

Good idea. Not sure my wife will appreciate Freezer/Napththa experiments but needs must : )

coleman fuel in the plastic bottles, most lighter fuels, and bartoline premium low odor white spirt (thinner than most white spirits and very clean, but takes a long time to evaporate)

Ive got everything i need to do what you say but using behlen i felt safe with the resulting base...

After I did the blab for the first time, and the water conversion to freebase I was shocked not to find that strong "DMT aroma" that one gets from using naptha. If I do pull any DMT with naptha its defo going to get converted to fumarate and then back to freebase via the water conversion tek.

I dont find any real difference, but I suppose its just piece of mind eh

I'm not losing much at all really and if there is noticable loss, I just reduce volumes of reaction liquids and usually get extra precips that way.
