If there happened to be a pile of crud mixed in xylene would this help

1. carbonate wash at a 1 to 1 volume to help pull what remained of water soluble stuff away then toss water.

2. 1 to 1 vinegar with a quantity of zinc estimated at 1 to 1 of possible oxide content or slightly more.

3. stir for 2+ hours like tek says for oxide removal. I am thinking if the xylene layer is left on the top it would stir with it then after stirring the layer of xylene gets tossed.

4. Carbonate to base the water layer then fresh new solvent used to extract the dmt.

On step three would leaving the xylene there during zinc use cause a problem?

it looks like stirring it all together may be working as the formerly dark yellow xylene is now clear and the water/vinegar layer is clear with zinc crud at the bottom. There are just thoughts about how much spice would remain in the solvent and if it should be pulled with acidic water a few times or just chucked into a fire.

I always search then read so anyone using the search who came across this may want a conclusion. The left over solvent was collected and will be washed with water/HCL to see if any is left in there. the product from this going in was dark orange goo from xylene pulls after naptha pulls also trash left over from a few recrystallizations. the product out was bright white like it was a/b from the get go.

one thing that came of this was maybe the idea to go large scale stb with solvent that will pull all oxides as well. After that zinc would be used on all of it to convert it back then salted out. It is a pain to work with larger amounts and a fast stb with a couple hot pulls to remove alkaloids from waste would just help get it down to a manageable size in a hurry.
