SWIM's friend, cactal IQ well over 150, volunterred this ubersimple tek for fans of the organic, full spectrum approach. It works so well, and is so easy and energy-efficient, that SWIM himself has put his crockpot away, and does not even walk out to the lemon tree anymore:

1. take 12" of fav cac(s), preferabaly a "good" one, despine, slice into stars, and deskin.
2. cut out and dispose of core, and then cut into smallish chunks...maybe 1/2" cubes.
3. freeze chunks for 1-2 days in ziploc bags.
4. remove from freezer, put chunks in a non-aluminum salad colander, and allow meltwater to drip into a non-aluminum pot (this can be sped up by placing outside in the sun, but kitchen counter works just fine).
5. after a day or so, put pulp in the proverbial "old T-shirt" and wring the heck out of it into the pot with meltwater (memo: reserve pulp and re-freeze for future, different tek process).
6. Pour a portion into a glass for contemplation, maybe a nice wineglass, and freeze remainder. Depending on spiritual quality of that favcac, one might have between 1 and 6 good portions. Start on the conservative side.
7. Can be used as a topical hair loss/strengthening tonic, or as a topical antiseptic.

SWIM's friend insists that the core definitely adds something positive to the result, but SWIM has not been able to verify this.

SWIM assumes you add water when freezing the cactus chunks correct?

How does the quality and yield compare to using the standard resin tek of cooking in a crock pot? SWIM seems to think the quality of the end product would be very good but that the yield would be lower than the standard resin tek.

your SWIM is correct....the "first meltwater" approach produces less actives than the crockpot resin tek...but uses very little time and electricity. And, oh so good. But as Julia Child said, "Save the pulp...it makes a nice pate." Or, simply proceed with the pulp to a resin tek.
