Hey people,

On my first attempt to do a bulk it looks like this.
I'm almost sure this is cobweb growing. As the color
Is more dark/grey then the mycelium. I read that I can
Use peroxide for treatment, can someone give me some
Advise on how to treat this?

Thx in advance

It looks OK to me. But maybe someone else will chime in ^_^

After searching some more pictures on conolizing bulk I found some more pictures that looks the same. I tought that de darker mycelium in between was a mold but maybe it is not. If I take a close look it seems almost like crystals forming in the patses between the fluffy white mycelium. It smels ok so I will just let it grow a bit more to see what happens.

I wanted to describe cobweb as "fuzzy" but mycilium is kinda fuzzy too sooo... Cobweb is definitely a shade darker than mycilia, and is... Stringy? As it is growing.
Peroxide should be effective, 1/3 peroxide : 2/3 water is what I've been told, it should fizz on the mold but not harm the mycilia.
Ime peroxide has not been effective on other contams.

That is not cobweb, it looks fine and not all myc looks the same and can have a gray tint to it.
Here is a prime example of cobweb, notice the difference in looks. And after it appears it only takes a few days to run the tub as its a super fast colonizer. Smells musty as well and not like mushrooms.

Thx for the advice, I hope it's nothing so Today I put my monotub in Fruiting conditions. It didn't smell odd so let's see how it goes from here

Looks pretty good to me too. Of course, it is always hard to tell when not standing there in person. No weird stench is definitely a good sign. Also, like SO2 mentioned, most molds will take over the tub pretty quickly once they announce themselves so if that doesn't happen, you should be all set to get some fruits.

Let us know how it goes! Good luck!

Looks okay. This is most likely a tomentose mycelial grow. This is just a slower-growing type of mycelium, compared to rhizomorphic grow.

Every thing was slow in the proces. Just the ryebag colonizing to 100% took 7 weeks and 2 brakeup's to get it there and spawn to bulk 20 days. Hope fruiting goes faster😏 (here are some pictures of the proces)

Day 3 in Fruiting condition. I see a lot of condensation on the surface of the substrate. Is this something I have to deal with or no problem? Keep u posted.....

Have put if in fruiting conditions after the thing was fully colonised?

Condensation is OK, just make sure the relative humidity is about 95%, just not all the way up to 99-100%. And do occassional ventilation etc.

See the Willy Myco's monotub videos - he explains everything in great detail.

Interesting...

Well, in my experience, cobweb isn't that bad if starts late, meaning your tub is already mostly colonised ....

I have had several tubs get some cobweb, I sprayed the web with a light bleach solution and the PE mycelium ate and literally consumed the bleach damaged cobweb!

I have had mushrooms push through cobweb and second flushes (after a mild bleach dunk) still work on a cobweb infected sub-strait!

BUT if your sub gets a cobweb infestation before its colonised then the tub is doomed, that area will not be consumed by your cube mycelium and the tub literally needs throwing out! I have also noticed that cobweb infected uncolonised areas often get infected with trich later on. I found that cobweb, on an uncolonised area, primes the area for other stronger contaminates to take hold....

In your pics the subs look fine, not cobweb at all, sometimes mycelium can look greyish raising legit concerns, but you look like you are good to go, please keep us informed as to your progress.

much love

Thx for all the feedbackBig grin

Now day 8 in Fruiting conditions and i'm seeing a few small pins. Hope that there will be a lot more of those coming soonRazz

The substrate is holding his ground. What I thought to be cobweb isn't growing and still no strange smel. The only thing now is my first flush is only 3 very small shrooms (1cm high) Shocked what can be the problem? Tempature Was 25 Celsius I fan 1 time a day and mist also 1 time a day. The substrate shrunk a inch on all sides. Could it me that the substrate is to dry or am i missing something? Who can give me some tips on this?

Here some pictures of my amazing first flush. Of you look close you can see that 1 cap is already openingSurprised

This is normal and happened to me many times. The monotub stalls only to explode at one point Smile Just keep enough moisture, light and gas exchange in the correct levels.

To get that "mushroom forest canopy", you need to have a really humid environment a something called "microclimate" just over the substrate. See Willy Myco's videos on monotubs. He actually places a wax paper on the colonised substrate to increase humidity and create the microclimate for heavy pinning.

I often found most mushrooms growing heavily in the spaces between substrate and monotub walls. It's all about humidity and CO2 levels.

One more keyword here is EVAPORATION. Not only you need humidity, but constant evaporation to induce pinning.

So mist or spray the substrate very lightly with water - the point here is not to provide mnoisture (there is enough already in the substrate), but to provide constant evaporation on top of the substrate.

In nature, this is provided by rain. Mushrooms usually grow most when the rainwater evaporates.

hi if i may chime in

it looks like a little too warm, a little too dry and maybe too much FAE? could this be why its so dry???

if you have lots of FAE (Fresh Air Exchange), the movement of air into and out of the tub, then you have to keep it misted / moist more often, the RH (relative huimidity) inside should be 85% if its much lower than that outside the tub, then you could put a humidfyer in the room?.... wet the sub a bit more so with the FAE, there is more water evaporating from the substrait, evaporation encourages pinning, also drop the temp a little to around 23c / 73f. A bit colder a bit wetter with good FAE and you should be good.

You might find this flush disappointing, if you can, dunk, and on the next one scrape the surface lightly with a fork before putting back into fruiting conditions Smile

if you are finding that the sub dries out easily and too quickly, you could late case it with pure verm to help retain moisture?

i hope this helps

do not do this.. you're asking for contamination. This trick is a myth.
