Hello tribe,
I am confused on why the 6 gram sodium hydroxide did not react with the 300ml water. The bottle did not get hot nor the water started fizzing.
I decided to get ph paper to check if it’s 13 or not but I will have to wait for the order.
Do you have any idea why there was no reaction?

Cold water probably. Stir it until it dissolves or heat water/bottle.
Also water turns slightly milky when reaction starts.
6g is not so much. Adding 50g to 200ml heats it so that it's almost too hot to touch.

Ps. If it dissolved, means it has reacted.

Thank you exitwound
It was cold water and I left it over night and it has dissolved and looks milky.
