That's right, after a near breakthrough experience, I came back and started feeling so much love and euphoria, maybe those were the effects of losing the ego for some minutes. After that I saw a picture of my mother holding her dog which I love, I looked at the dog's eyes and sure, it is my beloved puppy, I love it but then it made me realize cows and pigs can also be the same, they can give love and be loved, they have feelings, I have seen videos of cows liking to be pet, etc. When I was a kid I had pet chickens and felt like shit when they were eaten by a cat or something.

So I don't know, when thinking about these things on the comeback I just couldn't eat meat anymore. Not even chicken. I have decided to become vegetarian, will eat fish and seafood for now, and eggs and dairy but will try to go organic.

How fucking amazing is that? And they say these things are dangerous...

Good quality Syrian rue (Peganum harmala) for an incredible price!

Good for you, even if I'm not a veg*n myself. More important than organic though, is to go for pastured/wild (pastured eggs/dairy, wild seafood). Organic often means "organic feed to otherwise caged animals", but pastured means "more free than usual to live their natural lives and graze on their own". It's a better bet for the animals' welfare.

Also, regarding seafood, I highly suggest oysters (even if smoked & canned - $1 per can at the dollar store). They are the second most nutritious food after liver, and since you've stopped eating red meat, they could become an important addition.

Trying to be mindful of how our actions impact other lifeforms, and trying to diminish our weight on mother earth is imo an essential part of developing our conscience and evolving. Psychedelics can definitely help making us aware of how important other lifeforms are.

That being said, after 15 years of putting in practice this exact realization you are talking about (from ayahuasca though), while it makes sense at first to be "vegetarian" (or some people decide vegan), I'd definitely forget labels and just try to think in a broad way. It is a fact that meat is less sustainable, and that most meat industry is horrible and keeps animals in appalling conditions, so avoiding it in general is prob good. But, say, buying a certified 'vegan product' for example, but that comes from another country, shipped halfway across the world, with all the ecological impact, the wasteful packaging and etc that create directly and indirectly a lot of damage and suffering to other lifeforms too.

Or, say, being vegetarian/vegan but changing your cellphone or computer every couple of months, with all the impact it has with the mining of minerals like coltan, the production of phones in countries like China with very poor environmental practices, etc..

Or, say, you go to someone's house that in a small rural place where they just prepared specially for you a meat product that is traditional for them, and now you refuse it, maybe there is so much left-overs that now they have to throw away (so the animal's suffering is wasted), plus you created suffering for that human which is so dissapointed after spending hours preparing something you denied, which should count too right?

So, instead of fixating on a specific label (not saying you are, just saying some thoughts that come to my mind about this subject because ive thought about it for a long time already), I'd say just try as much as possible to avoid buying manufactured goods, recycle/reuse as much as possible, eat things that are in season and local, avoid plastic wrapping (bring your own bags to the market), avoid meat whenever possible, etc... Like a general attitude for all things in life rather than a specific named diet. At least that's how I see it Smile

Been mostly vegetarian/vegan for a little over ten years, but as stated already, it’s not a label I choose to identify with. It’s more along the lines of “this is what I eat because I don’t feel sick or tired afterwards”. Didn’t know I had a wheat allergy until I stopped eating it and felt much better, only to crave pizza and get sick again. Learning to eat what works for me is how I avoid being judged by myself and others. I don’t tell people I’m this or that, I just say it doesn’t digest in me or I have food allergies. Lately finding out that cheese doesn’t agree with my body. And only because I stopped eating it long enough to feel sick when I ate it again.
Something important to know - protein is made up of amino acids. Amino acids are in everything. Our bodies have to break down proteins in order to absorb the aminos. So eating foods with amino acids are actually easier to digest, and will leave you with more energy in your day. At least this has been my experience. I’m no bodybuilder, but my gym time the past couple of months has put on some pounds and it’s not because of protein shakes or supplements. I eat a lot of rice, beans, veggies, oats, fruits, and nuts. But the dietary shift happened slowly over time as I got used to different tastes and got over cravings for old favorites. It’s a lot easier for me to avoid cravings and chips etc. when I hit the gym regularly, because most of the time I eat just to feel better with tasty snacks.

Yeah me too, I mean I don't want to label myself and start yelling to the world that I am vegetarian now. I'm doing it for real awareness given by dmt. But yeah, I might consider eating kosher, meat where the animal was treated fairly and had a fulfilling life, and also will probably eat meat when traveling since it is a PITA to find vegetarian/vegan food when traveling, trust me, my girlfriend is vegan. I want to support animals that suffer but also not want to go to extremes.
