So I am embarking on making my first changa. Spice is already extracted, started making my 10x caapi leaf. Boiled 20g of caapi leaf for a couple of hours and got what seemed to be a pretty good extract going. Once it got pretty low I added my 2 g of leaf (1g mullein 1g sage) and set the heat on low to let it reduce.

Well, it wasn't low enough and I wasn't watching close enough. When I came back to check, there was only the tiniest bit of liquid left and the leaf was dark, dark brown, almost black Confused It wasn't smoking yet, however, and still smells somewhat of sage.

Toss it? Set it by a window to let it dry and try it by itself before infusing the spice into it? If it's not great but bearable maybe keep it as a harmala only leaf?

Good quality Syrian rue (Peganum harmala) for an incredible price!

I wouldn’t toss it. Black and gross looking, but not smoking sounds about right for a caapi extraction.
