Ethnobotanist Dennis McKenna is organizing a symposium that stands to be a milestone in the field. Some of the presentations sound really interesting. Click on the presenter's name and then on Summary to get a description of that person's talk.
Presenter's will include McKenna himself, K.Trout and Snu Voogelbrinder along with a slew of more academic types.

Ethnopharmacologic Search for Psychoactive Drugs II:
50 Years of Research

Free Live Stream on Facebook
June 6 – 8, 2017

In 1967, a landmark symposium entitled Ethnopharmacologic Search for Psychoactive Drugs was held in San Francisco, California. It was the first international, interdisciplinary group of specialists – from ethnobotanists to neuroscientists – who gathered in one place to share their findings on the use of psychoactive plants in indigenous societies. Follow-up meetings were intended to be held every ten years, but the War on Drugs intervened.

On the 50th anniversary, an international group of specialists will gather again to share their perspectives on past, present, and future research in ethnopharmacology.

If you can't afford the $1850 ticket price (I know I can't!) they are doing a free live stream and you can sign up on the website. I'm gonna be glued to the screen for three days...

You can also pre-purchase a slip-cased two volume book set, Volume 1 will be a reprint of the original 1967 conference and Volume 2 will be the current one. To be published sometime after the conference.

Fun stuff!

I won't be able to make the conference but thanks a bunch for the pdf link! I'll probably be peeking in on the live stream though. Dennis has been hyping this up for some time now, so I'm excited to see what's presented. That collectors set looks awful nifty too, although a little on the pricey side...

But first, are you experienced?

Love it.
Attended a few scientific conferences in my life. In the audience as well as a speaker. Too bad never one related to psychoactive plants. As I'm about to leave science, I will definitely miss the conferences.

It's just a pity it's on facebook. Or can the videos also be found elsewhere?
(facebook completely blocked here...)
I claim not that this is the truth. As this is just what got manifested into my mind at the current position in time on this physical plane. So please feel not offended by anything I say.
