When making DMT, is the acidifying step required? What effects does it have?

If you are using ACRB I would definitely recommend at least one mini-A/B phase in your extraction. If using MHRB you could go with a STB extraction with no problems.

When doing an A/B which is preferable for larger than 100g extractions it is essential because it converts the DMT to DMT-acetate. This is resistant to high temperatures. If there was no acid the ph normally sits around 6 or 7 but I know there have been people who have extracted with no acid and have had some results.

Still it really is the heat that forces the dmt out of the plant matter and acid helps too. Just think u have gastric acid (hydrochloric acid) in ur stomach to break down foods... likewise we use hcl aswell as vinegar.

Leave it to that way the teks describe, this is beyond a decade worth of trail and error. I wish though I could just magically take out all the dmt from the bark no hassles with my super powers telekenesis but no, just a human Shocked

So, boiling water with salt then adding more water, then adding that to the acidic mix would be good?

whuut?

Not sure whether boiling with salt is good idea, a thread on here seemed to suggest that the salt makes the water more dense and doesn't allow as much DMT to move in to water but that is still conjecture at the moment, not proven.

Is sea-water OK to acid cook with?

Once you finished boiling and have reduced, then add your salt to the hot solution, let it cool and I mean that! then basify slowly and don't let it go above 50 degrees celcius. salt optional, more lye better
