swim wants to combine to jars into a nice flat glass pyrez tray for freezing....is there a certain depth or amount of naptha that can be used?

Why would you do that? Just freeze in their jars, empty the naptha into new jar and collect and free crystals in a filter(if needed), any crystals sticking to the inside of the jars can be scraped (tedious) or add some hot new naptha or acetone (pref anhydrous) and evap in your pyrex tray. This saves naptha stinking out your freezer - granted you use extra naptha/or acetone but its a lot less hassle. As for amount of naptha swim couldn't say although using the ml equivalent to the amount of MHRB works well Here you!!! Gonnaenodaethat

swim has a very very small freezer and the one flat pyrex tray fits perfectly
another bonus is that flat pyrex tray will be very easy to scrap with a flat razor if he ever gets to do it

It really depends on the quality of your MHRB. Swim's naptha doesn't even need to be evap'd down, he just flings it straight into the freezer with good effect. But swim likes his yellowing with a bit of Oxide so he likes to evap. Its just a bit of trial and error - I suggest you do a trial with 50ml naptha and just evap that in your pyrex tray (wont take long) and of you get quite a bit of spice then do a freeze precip with 50 ml and see how that goes. Can't moisture get to the molecule and ruin it with an exposed top?

The amount doesn't matter, but the concentration should. Of course, several volumes with the some concentrations will yield a combined volume with the same concentration as the individual solutions. So in your case, it doesn't matter unless the different solutions have different DMT-concentrations (in that case the final solution will obviously have an average concentration of the subsolutions). Exactly how much different concentrations will affect the amount of DMT retrieved as precipitate, I do not know. Is there any available data concerning the solubility of DMT at freezer temperature? Is it vaguely soluble, or can we consider it as 'insoluble' at these temperatures (maybe -20°C, <0.5mg DMT/ml naphtha)? There's a clear difference between what I say I do and what I actually do perform.

evap it down until it turns cloudy and/or crystals begin to form. then it's reach it's max saturation. then put it in the freezer. put it in a flat glass plate and cover it with foil. then you can pull it out after a few hours and pour off the remaining naptha. the crytals will stick to the plate. set it out for the rest of the day to dry.
