Hi peeps,

Over the past month I've tried 5g and a 6g dose of dried Psilocybe subaeruginosa and have been experiencing some weird things while on them and the following day.

While on them: When I start peaking 1-2 hours following ingestion I find I cannot focus my eyes at all. This makes it very hard to see and navigate. When I de-focus my eyes I can suddenly see very clearly, though I am looking at my entire field of view and can't focus in on any objects.
I feel like I'm seeing from within my brain, not through the eyes. This doesn't happen to me on Ayahuasca...

The following day: I have an unsettling lack of motor control of my lips and in my wrists. I can't drink water properly or eat food because my lips just wont respond. When I was making porridge, I couldn't even hold the wooden spoon in either hand to stir the damned thing! This effect goes away completely the next day.

Starting to think the Mushrooms are reconfiguring my nervous system in some strange way. This is putting me off mushrooms.

Has anyone experienced this?

I call it pineal vision. I relate this to shifting the perspective from the point of view to the view of all points.

I Happen to like this phenomena. It offers new insights. Once I notice this "pineal vision" I go inside the body and check my innards - make sure all is running smoothly. I use it to also check on friends that are close by. It's hard to explain this phenomenon, but when it happens, you can notice a difference.

Don't know about the loss of motor function. I usually get an improvement in motor function and focus on the day after mushrooms. I tend to dose highly, as well. It could just be your body adjusting to the chemical change that takes place in the body when you ingest psilocybin.

I don't want to try to persuade you one way or the other, but if you keep taking mushrooms, you'll likely see some benefits.

Psilocybin does effect the nervous system. It does reconfigure it. There have been research papers written about the effects on processing negative emotions. Very interesting stuff

Sometimes it's good for a change. Other times it isn't.

That sounds pretty interesting.

Ive yet to take shrooms but do plan on it very soon.

One thing Id like to ask, from an outsiders perspective, is this normal? It almsot seems a little extreme that theres such a disconnect of the nervous system. That would greatly concern me, and the first thing I would think is that Ive injested something that shouldnt have been. Some form of contamination is what would cross my mind.

Is it possible that the shrooms youve taken were contaminated or tainted in some way? Or is an occurrence like this normal-ish?

Thing is I've taken these mushrooms at lower doses and have not had the same issues. Contamination? Probably not. They were all picked fresh and healthy (I discarded the ones with mold)

HumbleTraveler,

Psilocybin can produce a wide variety of effects. The variation of effects will likely be dependent on species, dose amount, chemistry of the person ingesting the material, and other substances ingested. 5-6grams is generally regarded as a large dose. Large doses will sometimes cause strange effects

As far as contamination.... Mine weren't. It should be fairly obvious by appearance or odor if contamination is present.
Sometimes it's good for a change. Other times it isn't.

Good points all around, I honestly skimmed over the 5-6g dose part as well as the fact that its not cubensis. Ive never read a report about subaeruginosa before.

Woodlovers have often been associated with physical paralysis - search the shroomery for several threads discussing this. Such effects have never been associated with cubensis. I speculate that there are alkaloids produced by woodlovers that can cause such effects.
