I would personally choose some exercise or music related activity before eating mushrooms for anxiety.

Was there anything you were going through when this anxiety began to grow?

I think a combination of things would probably be more effective than just trying to fix it with mushrooms.

I say this all the time but in general I've found that exercise, healthy food (no processed crap..lots of plants), yoga, meditation, time in nature, and things like that can help tremendously along with some other forms of soul searching and perhaps journaling. Harmalas (or caapi or rue tea) have also helped me and many others a lot in the past with anxiety (whether taken daily or in larger doses less frequently), and there is no doubt a number of other herbs that could be of assistance. Tryptamines might help to, but they are a more risky option since they can also spark anxiety...although low doses pose less of a risk in that regard, of course. In any case, it seems like it would be better to re-balance ones life in other ways and explore some of these other things before just taking mushrooms. I have heard good things from microdosing amounts that aren't psychedelic, but I haven't tried it myself.

I wouldn't look at anything as a quick fix or crutch though. Many things could help you along the way but it all comes down to you in the end

<Ringworm>hehehe, it's all fun and games till someone loses an "I"
