Immiscibility of aliphatics with water is what makes them useful. Ethanol is miscible with water. Need to calculate between salts and freebases? Click here! Need to calculate freebase or salt percentage at a given pH? Click here!

^ That means in layman terms that ethanol (everclear/drinking alcohol) mixes with water; whereas things like naphtha, hexane, and heptane do not. So a standard wet tek style extraction would not work with ethanol. However you could use it in a tek like this or this. ScriabinAnime wrote:what makes naptha better than heptane/hexane? Simple answer, they are all pretty much the same. The heptane and hexane are a little more selective than naphtha which tends to result in a bit cleaner product and a little less yield, but the differences are pretty negligible. In general most people tend to use naphtha for making pulls and heptane or hexane for recrystalization, but all three work fine for both.

what makes naptha better than heptane/hexane? I haven't done enough research to back what I'm about to say but... alcohol doesn't extract the freebase DMT from the solution.... Naptha is better than heptane because it pulls more DMT at once. Heptane is good for recrystallizing.

If you want people to take your posts seriously, please desist with the swim. It does absolutely nothing to cover you in any legal situation. Thanks. Please do not PM tek related questions Reserve the right to change your mind at any given moment.
