Hey fellas!

So, finding vessels to use is hard according to someone who is ext-ing using cyb's salt tek. The only one that works currently is a glass Arizona bottle with a metal lid. they noticed today the plastic lining inside the cap had worn extremely thin, and most of it had leeching into product.

Question is, should they ditch the batch due to the contamination?

Furthermore, what is the likelihood that all the impurities can be cleaned with a re-x?

What is the best way to clean the product?

Would a layer of aluminum foil on the inside of the lid be cleaner/safer than the plastic?

Can anyone recommend an alternative way to seal a glass bottle?

Thanks for reading!

Hey,

Sorry to hear that you had trouble with an extraction.

If I were you, I would ditch the extraction. I'm no chemist though. I have no idea if the plactic would be in the solvent or the base solution.

Also, absolutely do not use Aluminum foil. Bases react strongly with Al.

Best wishes,
Wap

Chances are that if you have freeze-precipitated, that most of the plastics stayed behind in your solvent. However, there still might be some so I would recommend cleaning your product further.

The best way to do that would be to dissolve your contaminated DMT in a solvent (i.e. acetone, naphtha or xylene), then add fumaric acid-saturated acetone (FASA), with 0.4g of fumaric acid per gram of DMT. This will cause the DMT to precipitate, leaving the plastics behind in the solution. Wait for the cloudiness to settle and crystalize (might take a day or more). Then, add a little more FASA to make sure all of the DMT is precipitated. If the solution stays clear, then you can pour off the solvent, making sure to it is all gone (as much as possible). Then you can do a standard STB extraction on the resulting DMT fumarate to recover DMT freebase.

A mini A/B would probably do the trick as well. I don't recommend putting aluminum foil around the lid if you have lye in the container. If I'm not mistaken, lye reacts with aluminum and releases hydrogen gas.

I typically use mason jars, but the standard lids have a plastic lining that will degrade over time from contact with either naphtha or lye, so I use Tattler BPA-free lids that seem to be much more chemical/solvent-resistant.

Any chance you got those lids somewhere that an anon could be linked to aswell?
