I am new to chemistry and extractions and i have looked around for some usable acids for my upcoming experiments.
I have found and bought some acids and i wonder witch ones is good for extracting say a Acacia Confusa RB material and other.
Also if anyone of these is useful in other common chemical experiments.
Tartaric acid
ascorbic acid
oxalic acid
citric acid
hydrocloric acid 30%
Vinegar 24%

I have been reading up on extractions of ACRB and Vinegar seems popular but i only have 24% vinegar from the food store and i guess i have to distill it to get purer stuff.
I read ascorbic acid can be used with good results, i have 100g and can easily buy more.

I also have these bases
sodium carbonate
sodium hydroxide 100%

I also have acetone, amonia and naphta(heptane).
Can one separate a product who contains xylene and ethanol?

Simple food vinegar is just fine, no need for anything else.

Hydrochloric acid could come in handy for mescaline extraction, to salt mescaline from xylene or limonene.

Ascorbic acid could be interesting to play around with in some specific cases like making mushroom tea, to prevent oxidation of alkaloids.

Those two bases are fine, each one with their own characteristic.

A product containing xylene and ethanol could be washed with water and the water layer discarded, and this repeated several times, which would remove the ethanol and leave xylene behind. Xylene smells horrible though, personally I dont like working with it unless Im using a fumehood or similar. For most uses, limonene works to substitute it.

If you are new to chemistry, I highly suggest you read up a lot on specific extraction methods/teks and understand the principles behind each step, and follow them till you are confident enough, not trying to make modifications until you do get exactly what you are doing.

oh, i wont do anything stupid.
If i don't understand what i am doing, i wont do it.
I got some basic chemistry knowledge but nothing advanced.
And i read up a lot before i thinking of preforming any experiments.
I think i bought some very good naphta, it evaporates without a trace on a evap-dish.

Got some ACRB coming so i study the procedures now.

Is benzylalkohol (20-40%) of any use?
