I was thinking the other day how awesome it would be to grow a crystal in the shape of something you like like dolphins, or stewie, or a heart. I want to try this out. Id have to use silicone molds though, unless I could find metal ones. Any ideas? I was thinking that if you slow dripped dmt-laden solvent into the mold then the crystal should grow to the shape of the mold, right? Does anyone know if naptha absorbs silicone? If it does, does any one know of a solvent that doesn't eat silicone? If it doesntt then trials will be under way shortly.

Good quality Syrian rue (Peganum harmala) for an incredible price!

For possible reactions between materials and chemicals have a look at this page! Select the material (silicone) in one Box and the chemical (naphta) in the other. In this case the result is:

Severe Effect, not recommended for ANY use.

Everything is always okay in the end, if it's not, then it's not the end.

I'd say glass, borosilicate ideally... Finding some dolphin molds the right size might be a tad problematic though...

My wife uses silicon molds for orgonite crafting, with some success, if you happen to have some and are at a loose end for a hobby Pleased

Are you suggesting I take up orgonite crafting? I don't even know what that is. Lol.

I know its possible to make your own molds out of silicone. I wander if there's maybe another material they can be made out of? I don't want a dolphin specifically, that was just an example. I was thinking of maybe using those baking mold or something. I think I've seen some made of plastic of some sort. Maybe I can find some hdpe molds.

Cast Iron should be reasonably safe to use (got a B- Good rating from Steppa's handy little link up there).

I'm not sure you could get enough crystals or a small enough mold for a shape, though.

Blessings
