Sorry if this is in the wrong place, I'm having trouble adjusting to this "forum."

So i finally got the right drill bit to put a hole in my bottle to make my own Machine. Went to torch some steel wool, did it thoroughly i think. But after it cooled I handled it and it left alot of residue on my fingers. Like tiny little pieces of steel wool.

So I'm now rather hesitant to use this stuff to smoke, as I'd rather not inhale those chunks. Should I cook it longer? Should i rinse it off? Is coarse steel wool the best kind for this purpose?

Thank you for your wisdom

After the burn...rinse it hard under the tap to get rid of those particles...then back to the flame to dry...then your done.Thumbs up

And yes the coarser the better...like steel ribbon...more surface area to catch the running spice.

Thank you so much, nobody over on the shroomery would give me a legit answer. only reason i made this account haha.

I also used some soap after the second flaming, the water coming off it was dark so I believe the soap washed alot of crap away. whether it was butane residue or not i dont know.

You don't love fish. If you loved the fish, you would not have killed it and cooked it on a fire

Welcome to the Nexus rbalzer!

What Cyb said, I'd avoid using soap though as this could also leave a residue. THe point of my reply is to add an additional note though,

Set the machine up ready to use but don't load it, heat it with a torch lighter then BLOW the crap out of it (with your finger stopping the wool from blowing out the end). This will ensure that any other contaminant particles that were there will be minimised. (Also, rinse the machine inside out thoroughly with only water -to remove any micro glass particles from the drilling)

Happy travels! Thumbs up
