First off, i have no clue where to put this topic

I was wondering how effective raw organic unheated cacao would be at maoi inhibition, not quite for pharma, but maybe mushies or the like? (Cacao Pharma would be cool though)

Anyone know how potent of an maoi cacao is? Or maybe the dosage for decent inhibition?

Btw, this stuff is great. It almost gives me a buzz for hours. Definatly a noticable effect for me

I don't know the pharmacological nature of the fungi/cacao combo, but I can vouch for the synergy between the two. Very loving combination. Adds just enough focus, eases anxiety, and everything you touch has a magnified sensation.

We all just sort of assumed cacao had MAOI activity but after looking into it i really couldn't find much solid info on it. I later learned it does contain the flavonoids catechin and epicatechin which are mild MAOI (flavonoids are found in all fruit and tons of other plants). I think they're actually MAO-B inhibitors, but i'm not entirely sure

Someone sent me the info on shroomery but i haven't gone through all of it yet. You can download this link if you want and look through the studies

But anyways, cacao has a lot of other things in it to and it definitely goes well with changa for me despite having probably very low maoi activity. It can get borderline psychedelic at high doses to

<Ringworm>hehehe, it's all fun and games till someone loses an "I"

There is no difference between raw and heated cacao for me. I have a giant supply of "raw" cacao from the only supplier that actually has "certified" raw cacao and Im pretty sure even that is not fully raw.

I know someone who spent time with Keith the chocolate shaman in Equador and he was pretty convinced based on what he has seen that there is no raw cacao on the market..it's all heated when processed and the stuff is also fermented. There is no way around this. Anyone buying "raw" cacao at whole foods etc is most likely not actaully getting raw cacao. I really doubt anyone on this forum has had raw cacao unless they got it in south america from someone who harvested it right from the trees.

This same thing happens with cashews. People buy "raw" cashews at health food stroes and whole foods etc and 90% of the stuff is definatly not raw at all. There is no laws around labling things raw like this so anything can be called raw. For a cashew to actaully be raw as in it never got hot enough to cook, it has to be cold cracked..and that is rare. Any true raw cashews will be labled cold cracked. Beware of the raw lable scham..

That same guy who works with it in equador in ceremonies claims that heated is better anyway. He has worked with the raw stuff right off the trees and claims that roasted beans are the best for psychoactive work.

The Mayans always roast the beans traditionally.

Hmmm do you know anything about maoi activity?

It is not an maoi to the extend you are thinking IME..unless you eat ungodly ammounts of it and then you will be so stimulated by that point it wont be pleasant. There is way way more going on with cacao than just maoi activity. It does synergize strongly with tryptamines IME..but it's not some simple maoi thing. Cacao is one of the most chemically complex foods out there..there is a lot of psychoactive stuff in there.

To put this int perspective..TONS of things are maoi's that you would never have assumed. It is not rare at all for a food or a fruit or an herb that you consume daily to have some mild maoi activity. Most of these things will never actually activate DMT though..chammomile and onions probly have just as strong maoi effects as cacao.
