Hi, my first post here. Great info and its very much appreciated! SWIM is learning about DMT extraction and has acrb available in powder form. She isn't sure about a couple things...

First off, she's read many different teks and all about A/B extraction. One thing she noticed is there are very different ratios even if you account for the different amounts of acrb. Also, there are many old teks still that may cause confusion for her since they don't use acrb.

Here's the questions she has so far.

1. After adjusting PH of distilled water to 4(some say 3 any confirmation?) how much water should be used VS plant material? She's read 1:1:15 but is that for every extraction? She's really wondering about ratio. She has also read that more water may be needed for already powdered plant material. Any truth to this?

2. During defat does solvent amount matter or just enough to deal with the unwanted particles? Haven't read anything on this. She does know 3 times or so and when solvent is clear should be good though.

3. When basifying the acidic solution should she go up to ph of 13 or 14? She's read both.

4. When adding solvent to extract freebase from basic aqueous layer how much solvent should be used? She hasn't seen much on this but has read that people say to use a less amount or have to evaporate 50-66% before going for freeze precipitation. She does know to add solvent a few times to make sure to pull as much as possible spice out. She's read 1ml per 2-3 grams of plant material but is this for each pull or total?

5. Finally for now, she's read some teks that take about rinsing the crystals with ammonia and some don't. Is this really needed? The cleanest spice would be the best for her. She's looking into recrystallization later but its for sure.

Thanks a bunch for any response.

Good quality Syrian rue (Peganum harmala) for an incredible price!

Follow thick-lights tek. Though joshisom writes it much clearer here.

IMO a lot of the ratios and ph levels are quite flexible and wont punish you for not getting them exact.

1. PH 2,3,4 should work. Water amount - the idea is to suck all the goodies from the bark into the water through osmosis, so do it until the final boil looks like weak tea from reusing a teabag too many times.

2. No need for defat.

3. PH 13 or 14 is good. I've read anything over 8 will work. Adding until the solution turns black is a good indicator. Remember your goggles and gloves. Don't piss about with safety.

4. Add a sensible amount of solvent. Lets say you have 500ml of basified solution after reduction, use around 150-200ml of solvent. Idea is to get the solvent saturated with the goodies so don't use too much. You will do more pulls after to get all the goods out.

5. I will let others answer this Razz

To answer question 5. No don't do an ammonia wash. Recrystallisation is fine and you could look into a sodium carbonate wash if really clean spice is what you want.

Wow, thanks for the quick replies and confirmation! I'm going to look at that tek and research a bit more.

SWIM appreciates it!
