Hi!
So tomorrow Swim will be trying out his first extraction with 100g Acacia Confusa bark using the Norman Tek.
Anyway, he is a little confused about a few things and was wondering if any one can help him out.
1. Swim has heard from some people that if the bark comes in already powdered then he must add extra water to the mixture. Is that true or can he stick with the 1:1:15:1 ratio (Bark, Sodium Hydroxide, Water, Naphtha)
2. For this procedure, Swim bought a 1/2 gallon glass jar to use as his main mixing holder. Will a 1/2 gallon jar be big enough for a 100g extraction with the above ratio or does Swim have to lower the amount. The reason Swim bought the 1/2 gallon was because under the Norman Tek, it stated that a gallon would be good for a 200g extraction.
3. Last question. Swim read that evaporation before freezing is good for the final solution. In your experience and opinion, is evaporation something Swim should do before freezing, or should he just stick the pint jar in the freezer right after separating the Naphtha from the mixing jar. If he should, how long should Swim let it sit and evaporate for before freezing.
Anyways, Swim is very excited and nervous about his first extraction and all the help is VERY well appreciated!
Thank you!
Btw, this site is amazing and Swim hopes to be as good and as passionate as a lot of you experienced people on this site.
