I was wondering if there is any way besides the little picture under your name to determine your member status, like how many votes you have towards becoming a full member?

That's what I thought. I actually see the benefit of this system now, because I'm actually reading through and finding things to post about so I can get more posts in. I realized I'm learning way more about the whole general theme of the website and have been thinking intensely about tons of different aspects I wasn't even looking for when I stumbled across the site, so this website has been really beneficial. Even if no one reads this I want to thank anyone who has taken the time to post relevant info and answer questions.
As a side note, how do I ask moderators about my status?
