As the title says.

How long to dried mushrooms typically last? And how long do chocolates last?

If this has been asked before, I'm sorry. I searched.

Thanks.

Good quality Syrian rue (Peganum harmala) for an incredible price!

If kept in an airtight container and they are cracker dry they should stay potent almost indefinitely. They may not taste too good after a while haha. Not sure about the chocolate. I'm sure it would still be hallucinogenic but the chocolate may get you sick if it's too old, so i think as long as a normal chocolate bar, 6 months?
We are surprisingly similar.

That's good news to me. I was worried about how long I could hold onto them. Indefintely sounds like a good time to me. Laughing Thanks.

when i want to make sure my dry shrooms are gonna stay for months or even years i keep them in honey. after a year or 2 i believe you can even strain them out of the honey and the honey itself will be active on its own. they used to call it "Blue Honey" tho it doesnt actually turn blue

Years ago I had a half ounce of shrooms stored in a plastic box for over almost a year. Some sort of mold or fungus got in there, all covered in green powder-like stuff.

The honey is a good idea. Air-tight container in the freezer is also good. On the other hand....Maybe it's just a bad idea to wait longer than 6 months without shrooming?

This is why "cracker dry" is essential.

My experience tells me they won't stay potent almost indefinitely. the best way to store your dried mushrooms is to put them in a glass jar and add CO2 to the jar. This way they won't be able to oxidise at all. I have had mushrooms stored up for years and were still in perfect condition.

It is very easy to do and to test:

Get some vinegar, an empty milk bottle and some Sodium Bicarbonate (NaHCO3) which you can get in any drugstore.
Now what you do is you put some of the vinegar in the milk bottle (use one with a broad neck) add the Sodium Bicarbonaete. At this point you will hear the chemical reaction between the two where the CO2 is being formed. Keep your jar with mushrooms in it ready and open. What you do next is super cool, you pour the formed CO2 into the jar (make sure not to pour the vinegar in as well). As the CO2 is heavier than air it will fall into the jar. Hold it there for a while over the jar. Of course you don't actually see the CO2 fallin in it. Before you close the lid of the jar test to see that there isn't any air into it by lighting a match into it. If done correctly the match should go out immediately as there isn't any oxygen in the jar. When this is done, close it and store it in a dark place.

Have fun.

This last summer at a festival I ate some cubensis that had been vacuum sealed and stored in a freezer for 10 years. They were quite potent. Shocked

I suspect chocolates in the freezer would work well for long term storage, but everytime I make chocolates they never last long. Laughing

If made with Milk chocolate the organic matter, mushrooms, will spoil the dairy in the chocolate as well as the mushroom will rot if not kept refrigerated after some time. I've seen people have violent food poisoning from spoiled mushroom chocolates they found in a drawer from the previous season. So keep that in mind. chocolate may not spoil in a year outside of the fridge but when mixed with fungi will spoil faster and can make you horribly sick.

I am not gonna lie, shits gonna get weird!
