So I vaguely understand some of the chemistry behind the tek. I would like someone experienced/Knows the chemistry legitimately to tell me how much salt to add.

I work with:
150 grms MHRB
1250 ml distilled water
8 tblspoons lye
2 liters naptha

I halved this for my last tek and plan to do so again.

In reading up on the chem. of extract. I have learned through one source that filtered water is preferable to distilled due to the fact that the Ionic strength of the distilled is to low. Also filtered has a plethora of different Ions. I figure this might be curable with salt, but it may still be better to start with filtered and still add some salt. I just dont know what a good amount of salt to add would be. Advice for this would be greatly appreciated. If you dont know please dont respond and if you do please explain your reasoning/experience.

Thanks for ye time.

Well you actually want the ionic strength to be as high as possible...so use filtered water if you can get it...

You say you halved the amounts shown...so how much are you asking for?
For 150g bark in that amount of water (I would go 1.5litres)...I would use 100-120g of salt
For 50g bark...around 30-40g salt

No idea what a 'tablespoon' of lye is...why not weigh it?

And '2 litres' of Naphtha?...Wut!!

60-100ml for each pull on that amount of bark is ample..
40-50ml for 50g bark

I would re-read up about ionics...not sure if you quite grasped the concept..

My sig has a salt tek...have a read and also check the links...

Hope that helps

Wink

4 tablespoons NaOH is around 75g's...

When cleaning my drain I use around 3.5 tablespoons for every 50 times the dog barks..

Works for me Smile
