I'm new to the nexus and not too sure where to put this post, since I can only post in the new members section I'm hoping I haven't missed another thread already covering this.

Anyway, I recently performed my first acacia obtusifolia extraction with great success, using the lextek extraction with vinegar, caustic soda and shellite for the solvent.
After the freeze precipitaion I ended up with beautiful crystals around the bowl.
(I'm not sure how to embed photos mid post so I'll number them at the end of the post)

Since then I've tried two more extractions with the same process, one with the same lot of bark as the first attempt, and another with a new lot of bark.
And ended up with a pale yellow pasty goo that wont dry at the end of the freeze.

I've gone over and over it trying to figure out what I could have done differently the first time and can't work it out.

Just hoping someone with a little more knowledge will be able to share their wisdom.

but seems like the goo can be used to re-x or make changa, I'm not sure how you would dissolve the goo for changa..if I find the thread Ill link it

Recrystalizing might be the way to go, I want to avoid changa if I can.

I was just hoping someone could shed light on why it's freezing differently..
after turning out those crystals the first time, I'm really keen to replicate it.

could you describe your extraction method in more detail?

Why avoid changa? Would you consider "enhanced leaf" instead?

It is nice to have pretty crystals to vape, but not necessary IMO.

because if i were you, i wouldn't form any strong opinions about a thing without having tried it.

there is a reason changa is spoken so highly of...

For some reason, I had a negative attitude towards changa too for no particular reason. Luckily I had some blue lotus on hand and tried some...WOW
Now I could care less if I get crystals or not, but it would be nice just for the novelty.

crystals are pretty to look at (and make pretty pictures), but changa is some damn fine smoke.

I have tried changa a number of times, the first few times I had dmt was with changa, and after smoking crystals or powder I've just taken a preference. Nothing against changa I think it's amazing! I'm also just curious about what exactly has changed to prevent crystals..

Acacian, I used the lextek I found on google.
Boil the bark 3 times in water acidified to a ph of 3.5-4 with vinegar
Reduce to two litres on heat and basefy using roughly 100g caustic soda while still hot, shaken in an HDPE2 jug.
Then three pulls with shellite, first two 500ml, last pull 1l (added to the HDPE2 jug and shaken 5 or 6 times with a couple of mins standing time in between each shake)
Then collect the three pulls of shellite and evaporate roughly half at room temp
Then 72 hours in the freezer

The first time I poured out the shellite and got nice crystals, since then I've tried to do everything the same without success ):
