so if one has used methanol basified with KOH to extract a from acacia and then evaporated the methanol pretty completely, one obtains a pasty red mess.

if one was to dissolve this in acetone could you also include anhydrous magnesium sulphate into the mixture to get any water/methanol residual out? I can't think of any bad reaction or salting with the dmt that would likey take place.

one would then filter the mixture, removing all of the insoluble now hydrated magnesium sulphate, KOH from the basified methanol as KOH is insoluble in acetone, and also removing anything else that isn't acetone soluble.

and of course the next step is to work with the filtered acetone solution adding FASA to it.

any thoughts of problems that this might create?
