Hello all,

I've been doing some reading, and decided to try extracting resin from San Pedro.

I started with the procedure outlined in the first post of this thread:
https://www.dmt-nexus.me....aspx?g=posts&t=8404

And was wondering I could add Xylene for defatting as per step 2 of this tek:
http://www.erowid.org/pl...i/cacti_chemistry2.shtml

And then discard the xylene and fatty layer before drying the remainder into resin, or should I just wait until I can get some acetone?

I have no extraction experience and was concerned about safety as much as anything else. Thanks for any info you can give.

If you are just doing a simple resin extraction using house's chunk method, there is no reason you should have to defat with solvent, and you dont really need to defat cacti extracts to begin with. Plus you risk contamination of your product with solvent not evapping off completely.

Just keep it a simple resin and follow the tek.

Just tried this the first time myself and got great amount of resin (tar) that as proven to be bioactive just today. Didn't use any solvents or acids or bases at all just used this method.

If these TEKs get any simpler it will seem like magic, but for the time it takes.

The resin tek doesnt take any solvents to remove the fats, when you make your tea the fats can be removed by decanting from the cold tea and skimming of the top of the tea during the reducing phase to make your resin.

I have been running it though a fine mesh bubble bag. But there is definitely a long way to go to get anything xally. But that tek really gave an bunch of tar. I am trying a chunk tek on the same plant, much more water to deal with.
