hi i just gave gibrans tek a go as it looked nice and easy..
however after pooling and reducing the cooks down to 400 mls then adding 50 mls water + 5g lye . nothing seems to be precipitating or clearing? im wondering how long this takes? it just looks like the first picture thick and soupy.

the only thing i can think i did wrong was i sieved it with a fine sieve i didnt use cloth, and i let all the sediment settle over night before pouring the liquid into a new container and basifying, could that have made a difference?

hope it settles out otherwise can i pull the alks with a np out of this basic solution?

Hello highRvibratoryfreq,

can you test the pH? Maybe its not high enough, did you use excessive vinegar while you boiled the Caapi?

Could it be that due to colour of you liquid it is simply not possible to see the precipitated harmalas? You could try to refilter and see what you get.

Could it be that your Caapi is no good? Have you used it before?

Could it be that the elves were running low on changa supplies and stole yours?Razz

hi 3rdi

ph is around 13 so plenty high enough

there is some white stuff kind of floating around in there defiinitely not sitting on the bottom though

caapi ive not really used before its mckenna red from a friend so should be good although it has been sitting around for the best part of a year maybe that affected it...

i will try filtering and see what i get.

elves could well be an issue theres a myriad of tempting elf consumables currently scattered here there and everywhere.. maybe i should make some sort of trap to catch one, im sure the alkaloids you could extract from one of them would be off the rails Laughing
