Hi everyone Im posting this technique because there are too many people asking beginner questions and not reading the FAQ's before they go to extract. i used to post here 2 years ago and remember the heavy hitters who used to post gold like this. this is the golden ratio technique and it is fool proof for working with mhrb, there is no ph meter needed and has been researched for 3 years by myself personally. I see too many people using way too much lye, too much water, too much solvent etc... All that stops here. Using this technique i always get 1.5-2% and can be multiplied for any amount of bark. All of this is done in 3hrs with no unnecessary cleaning of solvent.
The Golden Ratio=1000-25-100
You will need:
For your health!: Safety goggles, chemical resistant gloves, painters mask with organic vapor cartridge.
Long sleeve shirt and pants just to be safe
For your extraction: Mason jars (preferably 2000ml wide mouth jars) just buy a 12 pack,
A good glass or hdpe 2 turkey baster,
A set of chopsticks for stirring,
A tbsp measuring cup (for the lye),
A tupperware tub w lid for external heat bath and to reduce any chemical splashing,
4 round pyrex or anchor freezer jars w lids,
Flat pyrex baking dish for evaporation,
A fan
Small spoon for scooping crystals from freezer jars
Fresh razor blades
A can of 100% lye (roebic is great)
Pre powdered mhrb
A can of vm&p naphtha(NOT RONSOL it has other junk in it)
PROCEDURE:
1. Pour 1000ml warm distilled h20 in your extraction jar.
2. Slowly add 25g NaOH, and stir the bottom with a chopstick, making sure all of the lye is dissolved.
3. Wait 10 minutes
4. Add 100g of MHRB stirring with the chopstick make sure there are no clumps
5. Wait 20 minutes. This is enough time for the MHRB to freebase.
6. Now put 100ml of naphtha in the mix using baster. cap and gently tilt jar end on end for 1-5 minutes.
7. Release pressure from jar and put back into heat bath wait for separation.
8. Using the baster suck up the top layer and put pull in naphtha in small pyrex or anchor freezer jar
9. Now rebasify Slowly put another 25g NaOH into the mix and give a light stir with chopstick.
10. After 1 minute put another 100ml of naphtha in your mix. cap and tilt end on end
11. Pull this and put in separate freezer jar than your first pull.
12. Make another pull with 100ml naphtha, cap and tilt, and put in a different freezer jar than the first 2.
13. Now put 150-200ml naphtha in the mix, shake and let sit for 24hrs with the lid pressure off. It is wise to shake this jar every hour on the hour to max yield, just remember to take pressure off when settling.
14. put all of your freezer jars in the freezer WITH LID ON!! let sit undisturbed for 6-12hrs
15. when your xtals have crashed out pour off the naphtha and scoop crystals out and put on a flat pyrex baking dish with high speed fan until dry.
16. Scrape with razor and enjoy!
17. As for the pull you let sit overnight, heat with heat bath before tilting so that everything is all the same temperature, aiding in separation. pull this and put in freezer jar and freeze.

It works great with these smaller pyrex to grow crystals (i use them all the time i.e Shardy Marty)
Side notes. Do all of your extractions in the tupperware tub with warm-hot water to keep your mix heated. You can dump and refill this water whenever it cools down. Make sure heat bath isn't too hot or your jar will crack. It is wise to keep the water level in your heat bath a little above where the non polar layer to aid in separation after shaking mix. I get a clean separation every time very very fast this way. It is also wise to fill a mason jar with naphtha and keep it in your heat bath so you have fresh hot naphtha on deck in your workspace. Heat+motion=transfer of electrons. Remember to release pressure after shaking to aid in separation, you don't have to take the cap all the way off, just twist to release pressure. Always put each pull in a separate freezer jar from the first, to make sure you know what your getting each time (helps a lot if you take extraction notes!). The reason for the tupperware lid is so that you have a tabletop when extracting and pouring water, lye, mhrb, and mostly so you have an even surface when pulling the top layer off. very convenient. Usually the first pull makes a small amount of white. Depending on your extraction temperature, the second pull after rebasification will be whitish yellow with less temp, more yellow with more temp. For the love of god make sure you don't pull any lye up with your baster. Never. For a larger extraction all you have to do is double up the recipe. i know it is 1000-25-100 but in all reality 1000-25x2-100. say your doing 2000 grams of bark, and you dont want to do use 20 glass jars (who would) and are fine with using water jugs, for example, you could do 6 jugs of distilled water with 3350ml d-h20, 75g NaOH and 335g bark(2000g divided by 6). this would be perfect considering having 6 water jugs each with 3350ml h2o (a gallon of water is 3780ml so just pour out 400ml), add 75 g lye, shake, wait ten minutes, add 335g mhrb, wait 20 minutes, pull with 100-120ml naphtha, rebasify w 75 g lye, make two more pulls, done. you can just leave the mix in the jug and put your overnight extraction of 200ml.
