SWIM performed the q21q21 tek 1 and had all go well untill the salting stage. SWIM added d-limeone to the basified bark mush and got very brown solvent with the salting step. Is SWIM doing something wrong? in all the pictures i see the salting step has a pretty clear solution

my limo seemed to change color when salting as well, ranging from clear to yellow (clear when i add vinegar, yellow when i add water).

my limo was pretty saturated with jim-jam before i salted it (had a orangey-reddish yellow), so i thought that might have been partially responsible.

maybe there are impurities in the limo that react??

also, you did use lime(CaOH), correct?

I'm guessing the error was due to the wrong consistency in the basification step which led to emulsions. The solvent and bark mush just wont separate, its about the color of chocolate milk. calcium hydroxide was used as well as food grade d-limeone on A.confusca bark. SWIM tried adding more vinegar to avail. Just did a second pull and its the right color, but should swim just throw away the first pull? It looks like it contains a lot of the potent stuff and hes a little reluctant

SWIM just wanted to bump & add to this topic because I'm having a comparable problem.

Specifically, SWIM went through the steps, everything seemed to be working well. SWIM got it all to the basification stage, swirled it, let it sit, swirled (etc for a few hours), then added solvent. Now, only a trickle of the solvent has come off of the pull...MAybE 10% of the total solvent has trickled off, the rest is still stuck in the oatmeal-consistency mush.

Should I dry the mush under warm air until crumbly? Add more solvent (I've used a LOT, it's just not separating)?

Any pointers would be helpful...

Don't swim while extracting. It's very dangerous.

Besides, if it's not you going through the steps then how did you end up with mush?

These are far more pressing questions.
