Hello lovely people -

I have now completed 4 pulls on my first extraction using Q21Q21's tec. The first 3 pulls I used a 0.5 litre airtight round jar for the freeze precipitation. This worked fine, but was a real pain to try to scrape the crystals. So for the 4th pull I purchased a 1.1 litre rectangular shallow pyrex dish with airtight lid. This worked brilliantly and scraping the crystals was a million times easier.

What was interesting though was the yield from the fourth pull. The first pulls using the jar were 350mg, 275mg and 210mg, so I assumed that the yield was gradually diminishing. The fourth pull however yielded 400mg. Not only that, but the crystals were much bigger, fatter and fluffier. So this made me wonder, is it usual to have a larger pull later on, or could it be the container? Could it be due to the larger surface area, or that the naptha was shallower, or even a rectangular versus a round container? Or is it just a fluke?

Each pull was done about 3-4 days after the previous one and stayed in the freezer for about 72 hours, so there was little variation there. I followed the same procedure for each one, recycling the naptha from the previous pull and adding a little extra to make up for loss.

Any thoughts on this? Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere, I did search for older threads, so if I am repeating an old topic then this is due to my incompetence rather than laziness!

Love to all

Hey there! I'm not sure i personally would stick to the pan as like you said its easier to collect but, if you are having better success the other way I would stick to that. Congrats!

i always used to find with my precipitations, (especially if i was doing multiple jars at a time that new jars or clean ones rounded not long flat pyrex dishes were giving high yields of white fluffy crystals, so im not sure its just down to the solvent being spread out in a flat dish there must be other factors involved, there were times i had like 36 small jars a time and i never seemed to get consistency on which jars would yield the white fluff, sometimes they would come through on the first pull sometimes on the second, i never did third pulls as there wasnt any need.. hope this helps Smile

Thanks friends. I guess maybe it was just a fluke then. I was just surprised that the pull with the biggest yield was the fourth.

It was actually the easy-to-scrape pyrex dish that gave the big yield, so will definitely only use this one from now on.

Very excited with the results. Now waiting for the right moment for my first experience.

Lots of love
