Finally, my first successful extraction. I used Cyb's A/B salt tek and my jars are drying in front of a fan right now.
The first attempt that I made last night w/ 50g mhrb turned into a gooey emulsion. Not to be deterred, I just started over and this time I awoke this morning to a happy forrest of white to yellow to red snowglobes.

I freeze precipitated each pull separately, and interestingly enough, my first pull that was mostly clear yielded almost nothing. The second a mild/moderate amount of white crystals and the third and fourth a significant amount of mixed from white to yellow to rust colored.

I am evaping the remaining naptha. I will post pics and yields when I have them scraped up, I was just so excited that I wanted to thank this community.

Gotta say, I just did this extraction for the first time and I'm at about 750mgs and counting out of 50 g of mhrb!

I know how you feel... This is my third time and easily the best results. Congrats!

What was your solvent (NPS).

I only ask because red spice shouldn't really turn up, unless you got some lye/mix in the pull or used a different solvent and pulled some jim jam.

In regards to solvent, I used naphtha. I am guessing that some plant fats or oils may have gotten into my pulls... I re-x'd and resulted in yellow - off white spice.

I am repeating this in a few days, was considering a defat step prior to basing. My naphtha was very yellow when pulling, almost orangish. Could the superfine powder of the mhrb lean towards transferring tannins or whatever into the solvent?

I know it takes a few times to get the technique down, hopefully my next attempt will pull cleaner spice

If your nap was almost orange, I would say that the super fine powder was held in suspension within the nap.
Pee yellow nap is normal with STB as it will pull full spectrum and stain the spice yellow.
Mhrb shouldn't require a defat stage as it has very little fat onboard.
Further Re-xing will clean it up nicely.

I've been a busy bee. Thankfully my wife is tolerating me turning our kitchen into a chem lab for a week, so I wanted to knock out as much of this process as I can before the stink of paint thinner changes her mind.

Here is a pic of some of what I have come up with via this tek. My question to all of you is, do you think it is worthwhile to re-x this a few times, or should I have my first go as is. Would the re-x'ing to whiter crystals be mostly aesthetic, or do you think it will provide a cleaner experience?
