STS is a community for people interested in growing, preserving and researching botanical species, particularly those with remarkable therapeutic and/or psychoactive properties.

That was a great listen... Nice to get a fresh look at those events. The debate rages on as to whether Terrence was a wise man or a crackpot... Or a wise crackpot... Personally i've always enjoyed his talks and just not taken every detail at face value. So hearing it presented in this kind of open minded retrospective format is really cool.

Note to other members: prepare yourselves for about 90 minutes here. Well worth it though.

And DM... Welcome to the Nexus; please share your thoughts!

I'll have to check this out when I have a bit of time. I'm currently reading Brotherhood of the Screaming Abyss... Dennis' reflections on the fallout from La Chorrera make for very interesting reading.

"The thing about smart motherlovers is they sound like crazy motherlovers to dumb motherlovers!"

I just always loved that quote also try mixing up the above quote and it works everytime.

smart sound like dumb to crazy
dumb sound like smart to crazy
dumb sound like crazy to smart
crazy sound like smart to dumb
crazy sound like dumb to smart
^^ I dunno about anyone else but I love these things.

Will take a look at this video later tonight!
"Somebody's trying to take away my computer."

... That was intense.

Hey DM,

Welcome to the Nexus. Very cool post - as you can see it has generated some interest. Your name came up in chat too.

I would love to see a more formal introduction essay from you. This is a great start, but it just left me hungry for more. Rather than more links, to learn more about you . . .

Again, welcome, Very happy.
"But even if nothing lasts and everything is lost, there is still the intrinsic value of the moment. The present moment, ultimately, is more than enough, a gift of grace and unfathomable value, which our friend and lover death paints in stark relief."

Racing 'cross the heavens
Straight into the dawn
Looking like a comet
Slicing through the morn

Scorching the horizon
Blazing to the land
Now he's here amongst us
The age of fire's at hand

Stand by for exciter
Salvation is his task
Stand by for exciter
Salvation bids to ask

Everything he touches
Fries into a crisp
Let him get close to you
So you're in his trip

First you'll smoke and smolder
Blister up and singe
When ignition hits you
The very soul of your being will cringe

Stand by for exciter
Salvation is his task
Stand by for exciter
Here he comes now
Fall to your knees
And repent if you please

Who is this man?
Where is he from?
Exciter comes for everyone
You'll never see him
But you will taste the
Fire upon your tongue

He's come to make you snap out
Of the state that you are in
Look around and make you
See the light again

So much self-indulgence
Results in shattered eyes
Predominant complacency
Leads to beguiling lies

Stand by for exciter
Salvation is his task
Stand by for exciter
Salvation bids to ask

When he leaps amidst us
With combustive dance
All shall bear the branding
Of his thermal lance

Cauterizing masses
Melting into one
Only when there's order
Will his job be done

Stand by for exciter
Salvation is his task
Stand by for exciter
Here he comes now
Fall to your knees
And repent if you please

Who is this man?
Where is he from?
Exciter comes for everyone
You'll never see him
But you will taste the
Fire upon your tongue

Racing past the heavens
Straight into the dawn
Looking like a comet
Slicing through the morn

Scorching the horizon
Blazing to the land
Now he's here amongst us
The age of fire's at hand

Stand by for exciter

So you post some great video links, then some Judas Priest lyrics, then a flat dismissal of this community? I'm sorry, I just feel a little confused now.

I'm still curious when the mature look back will make it's appearance... Most notably, the maturity...
Convert a melodic element into a rhythmic element...

Wow how random. Surprised Good vids but you could have picked a better song.

Man I loved JP so much back in the 80's, especially the first 2 or 3 albums before they went so biker metal.

Huasca woman don't you know
That you are drivin' me insane!
The deemster you have gives you will to live
And gets right to my brain.
Don't you know you're driving me insane?

You're tryin' to find your favorite pipe,
You're tryin' to get some new direction.
Another smoalker's got her man,
And she won't find a new connection.

Takes another toalk or two,
Things look better when she's through...

Once she was wonderful.
Once she was fine.
Once she was beautiful.
Once she was mine.

Now changa comes over her body,
She doesn't see me anymore.
Changa's come over her body,
She doesn't see me anymore...

VICTIM OF CHAAAAAANNGAAAAAAAAAAHH!

No direction but to follow what you know,
No direction but a faith in her decision,
No direction but to never fight her flow,
No direction but to trust the final destination.

Ha! Hysterical.

I once had a hand painted vest with the "defenders of the faith" cover on the back. Well into the biker metal phase but still a cool graphic.

One of their best, from the early days. Clearly all about psychedelics, there's no need for me to mess with the lyrics on this one. Wink It's probably not what you'd expect if you've only heard their later stuff.

"He said in the cosmos is a single sonic sound,
That is vibrating constantly.
And if we could grip and hold on to the note
We would see our minds were free,
Oh they're free..."

No direction but to follow what you know,
No direction but a faith in her decision,
No direction but to never fight her flow,
No direction but to trust the final destination.
