Took a little stroll through my pasture today curious if there were any fungus growing yet. The fall/winter rains have only been around a couple of weeks. I was pleasanly suprised. Only picked a few but there are loads of pins. It looks as though there are going to be loads of em soon. Normally I pick cyans first. enjoy Ice House attached the following image(s): DSCN2421.JPG (440kb) downloaded 208 time(s). DSCN2423.JPG (138kb) downloaded 208 time(s). Nice Ice House! I've only found about 2.5 grams dried stuntzii this year and have been out looking for hours every day since the rain. I'm a little bummed I may have to take a trip north if I don't get lucky soon, I really want to try cyans or libs this year. Is there just one type of semilanceata, or is it like with cubensis that there are more different strains?
My experiences with this species are inconsistent. From very 'muddy' to absolutely amazing and fantastic and stunning and beautiful. The best experience i´ve had with this species was one of the best mushroom experiences i´ve ever had in my life and from that experience i would rate the quality of these little fellows somewhere in between that of copelandia cyanescens and psilocybe azurescens...definately a bit freaky also, like the azurescens. That experience was also the most 'aural': many weird noises and sounds, more than i ever had with any other shroom, i think.
But i´ve also had weak ones that didn´t make much of an impression. I don´t know. Maybe it´s a soil thing?

Nice specimens! I am lucky to have my own, unknown of little patch at a park. It sits low, and borders a swampy area, so it's always damp. The season is short for them there, but I've always been pleased with them! I need to nail down some other spots so I can have more. Poly-trip, Yes they vary GREATLY, from one strain to the next. In my little patch, there's the classic bell shape, all the way to flat top, saucer shapes, and even curling edges. Luckily I have quite a bit of experience with these little guys, a newbie would probably not even recognize most of them. There's even some albino ones that turn blue, since they are without pimnent. Libs usually don't turn blue. The strangest one I have found was a strain quite comparable to penis envy. Think of a penis envy liberty cap for a moment. It's pretty strange, with a fat stem and little bitty cap. I'll post a picture of it. I'm sure you'll fond many more Ice House Here is some photos of what I've found in the Italian's alps in the early October... http://imageshack.us/g/1/9791953/Listen to a man of experience: thou wilt learn more in the woods than in books. If only we could REALLY enjoy them, if you catch my drift. I'm jealous, you have some gorgeous ones. It seems my little patch is winding down for the year. I wish I had more time to get out hunting. Be an adult only when necessary.

This year has been my first picking and no huge harvests yet but found enough over the last few weeks for a few trips Thanks for sharing the pictures, i really love this mushroom! It's still quite mild here in the south of England so should get a few more flushes through hopefully, everytime i find a few it seems to be the exact amount needed for a nice trip (~2g dry) which is nice, although i really would love to find a field of dreams one day with a few hundred juicy liberty caps to stock up for the year.

Very nice!! I really haven't seen many Liberty Caps "trip reports".
I recently found out that they are quite common in Romania, and I live in the perfect environment. Actually I am surrounded by hills and woods.I may even find some Amanita. Crossing my fingers ^_^
